Geely Galaxy. Safety comes first
The Geely Galaxy L7 is a luxury mid-size SUV with a hybrid system. The first representative of the new Geely Galaxy family, presented in February 2023, differs from the usual models of the Chinese automaker: safety, practicality and fuel efficiency come first. It will enter the Chinese market in the second quarter of 2023. Export plans will be announced later.
The price starts at 29,000 dollars. Make a deposit of 86 dollars and it will be credited 10x.
According to Autohome.com, the new Geely Galaxy range, named after our galaxy (Milky Way Galaxy), includes luxury electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids priced between 22,000 and 44,000 dollars. The models will be based on the platforms developed in collaboration with Volvo: SPA, CMA, e-CMA and SEA for electric vehicles.
Exterior
The hybrid Geely Galaxy L7 looks like an electric car, featuring a plug instead of a radiator grille. Cooling will be provided by air intakes at the bottom of the bumper and near the headlights. The vehicle has futuristic optics and aerodynamic shapes, but the door handles are ordinary: the manufacturer has decided not to use retractable handles for safety reasons. Dimensions: 4,700×1,905×1,685 mm. A decent wheelbase, 2,785 mm, promises interior roominess.
Interior
Physical buttons are only on the steering wheel. Transmission modes are switched by the right understeering switch. There are 4 displays on the front panel: 10.25-inch digital dashboard, 13.2-inch vertical media tablet, 16.2-inch front passenger screen and 25.6-inch head-up display (optional). The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 single-crystal chip is responsible for the speed of information processing. The new Galaxy N-OS operating system speeds up applications and improves the voice assistant. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about the intelligence of the Geely Galaxy L7.
Powertrains
The plug-in hybrid system works in serial and parallel modes: the gasoline engine charges the battery for traction motors or rotates the wheels itself. A 1.5-liter turbo engine with 163 hp has a record efficiency of 44.26%. A single electric motor and a 3-speed DHT Pro transmission will produce 390 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h will occur in 6.9 seconds, while the maximum speed is 200 km/h. The model is front-wheel drive, but in the future there will be an all-wheel drive version (with two electric motors and a total output of 664 hp).
The powertrain’s name is NordThor Hi-X 8848, where the numbers indicate the height of Everest. A serious hint at the peak of possibilities.
The batteries will be equipped with the Aegis safety system, which prevents the battery from spontaneous combustion and extends its service life by 20%. The declared fuel consumption is 5.2 liters per 100 km (WLTC). The driving range with a full charge and a full tank will be 1,370 km (CLTC).
