Lexus RX L. Luxury car for a big group of people
The Lexus RX is a mid-size luxury SUV, which has been manufactured since 1997 under the name Toyota Harrier. In March 1998, the vehicle became available in other countries under the Lexus brand. At the moment, you can purchase the fourth generation model, which underwent restyling in May 2019.
In November 2017, Lexus announced seven-seater versions of the SUV: the RX 350 L and RX 450h L. They offer three rows of seats and are 11 cm longer than the two-row model, but have the same wheelbase. Two years later, the RX range, including the RX L, underwent a facelift. Thus, the vehicle has acquired a fresher appearance, improved technical characteristics and new options.
Exterior
The restyled 2019/2020 Lexus RX L features narrower and sharper headlights, new plastic bumpers (with fewer edges), and horizontal fog lights. The front lower bumper guard has become slightly different, imitating the crankcase protection in the standard SUV modification and becoming a spoiler in the F Sport version. The rear bumper features horizontal reflector segments and new tailpipes.
Even the entry-level version comes with the LED headlights that have a modified AHS (automatic high-beam system), which now controls the light beam in a more efficient manner. An important albeit invisible difference: body rigidity has been increased by adding some new welding points in the area of doorways, front and rear arches.
Interior
You can choose between three new interior color options: Oker (light brown), White Ash (black with white accents) and Flare Red (maroon). There are new multimedia systems with a touch screen.
Following the example of other three-row cars, the 2020/2021 Lexus RX L offers you to choose the interior layout. In addition to the 7-seater 2+3+2 option, there is also a 6-seater 2+2+2 layout, offering the second row passengers separate luxury seats. Moreover, you can move the third row seats back and forth, thus increasing legroom or expanding trunk volume. The vehicle is equipped with a three-zone climate control unit with separate adjustment for the third row. All trim levels of the SUV feature USB connectors for charging gadgets (a total of four, two in the front and two in the back).
Powertrains and chassis
The engines and transmissions of the restyled RX L are the same. Depending on the market, the following options are offered: a 2-liter turbocharged petrol 8AR-FTS engine (238 hp), a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated 2GR-FKS engine (300 hp) and a hybrid system with the same 3.5-liter engine. Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase a hybrid system generating 313 hp with a powertrain consisting of the same 3.5 engine, two electric motors and an electromechanical CVT.
The restyled vehicle demonstrates better handling characteristics, featuring stiffer anti-roll bars and reinforced wheel hub bearings. The ACA (Active Cornering Assist) is now capable of suppressing understeer with the accelerator pedal being pressed when cornering. The shock absorbers have a friction control device that dampens high-frequency vibrations, which also makes the handling more responsive.
Equipment
The restyled 2021 Lexus RX L comes with the new Lexus Safety System Plus 2.0 (adaptive cruise control, brake assist, lane departure warning system, etc.). Smartphone support systems (Apple Carplay and Android Auto) are also available. The vehicle is very richly equipped, featuring rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, heated mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, 10 airbags, a tire pressure sensor and much more.
