Mazda CX-3. Big city style
Mazda CX-3 is a 4WD subcompact Japanese crossover, produced by Mazda from 2014 until now and restyled in 2019.
First generation
This classic small-size SUV with 5-doors has come to substitute Mazda 2 hatchback. It received all the SkyActiv series of technologies developed by Mazda and Kodo style. The new crossover shares the same wheelbase of 2570 mm with Mazda 2, but the length of the crossover is 4275, its width is 1765 mm, and the heigth is 1550 mm. This way, regadless of the wheelbase, the car is much bigger than the Mazda 2. The road clearence of the crossover is 160 mm. The ‘face’ of the CX-3 has a lot of common with the Mazda 2, as well as some equipment parts. However, the bodywork and the optics of the crossover differ a lot from the predecessor.
Interior and exterior
One of the style features of the Mazda CX-3 are black D pillars. For purity of lines, designers have shifted the registration number a little bit upward. The crossover uses a new type of paint, which Mazda calls ‘ceramic metallic’. It gives interesting effects when the lightness changes.

The interior of the CX-3 is almost entirely borrowed from the Mazda 2 hatchback, however the design of the doors is different. The latest version of the Mazda Connect multimedia with Internet connection and Bluetooth interface is installed in the crossover. In addition, Mazda CX-3 crossover has a set of active safety systems, united by the common brand i-ACTIVSENSE. They should help the driver to notice the danger in advance, evade a collision or at least reduce the severity of the consequences of an accident in case it cannot be avoided.
In 2016, the car also received the G-Vectoring Control system to redistribute the torque applied to the front wheels in different phases of driving. It also has a new steering wheel and other new options.
Restyling in 2019
The 2018 Mazda CX-3 has been demonstrated at the New York Auto Show with a restyled grille, chrome-plated parts, and 18-inch wheels. The interior has received a new center console, new design of the front panel, new seats, and significantly improved noise insulation. In addition, an electronic parking brake (EPB) is available for the restyled 2019/2020 version of the Mazda CX-3. Sales of the updated CX-3 began in 2019, and in 2020, this version entered the Israeli market.
