The Renault Megane is a compact C-class family car, which has been produced by Renault (France) since 1995. It is available in five-door hatchback, sedan and estate bodies. At the moment, there is the fourth generation of the car, restyled in 2020 (as of 2021). Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase the Megane estate, called the Grand Tour, and the Megane Grand Coupe sedan.
The Renault Megane Grand Coupe is a five-seater C-class sedan from Renault (France). The official premiere took place in July 2016. The car is built on the CMF modular platform. It is designed in compliance with the current style of the brand and has acquired modern functionality.
Exterior and interior
The exterior of the four-door Renault Megane Grand Coupe is inspired by the ‘family’ style of the French brand: its front face looks exactly like the 5-door version. The car has a bold and beautiful appearance that evokes extremely positive emotions.
The 2020 Megane sedan is 4,630 mm long, 1,814 mm wide and 1,447 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,711 mm. The ground clearance is 145 mm. The trunk has a volume of 508 liters, hiding underneath a compact spare wheel.
The interior of the sedan has a modern design and is equipped with an 8.7-inch monitor of the multimedia system in the center. Decent finishing materials are used. It is very pleasant to see the ergonomic seats and ample space for five passengers.
Engines and suspension
In Israel, the 2020/2021 Renault Megane Grand Coupe sedan comes with a single engine option: a 1.5-liter turbo diesel that develops 116 hp at 3,750 rpm, which is coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission. The car is front-wheel drive. A car with such power trains accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 197 km/h. The fuel consumption is only 5.2 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle.
In terms of design, the new Megane Grand Coupe is a simplified version of the CMF platform, based on a MacPherson-style suspension at the front and a semi-independent suspension at the rear. The car has an electric power steering system and disc brakes on all wheels with a bunch of auxiliary electronics (ABS, BAS and EBD).
Trim levels and equipment
Israeli buyers can choose from two trim levels of the 2020/2021 Renault Megane sedan: Intense plus and Executive. They have few differences. Here is the list of equipment included in both versions: lane departure warning system, active cruise control with steering wheel control buttons, driver fatigue alert system, 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Programme, Multisense system, rain and light sensors, Pure vision LED optics, 2-zone climate control, etc.
The Intense plus is equipped with 17-inch wheels, while the Executive has 18-inch wheels. The latter has an electric sunroof, and the rear seats are folded in a 60:40 ratio.
