Wey Coffee 01 in Israel. We already know the prices
We’ve been waiting for it for so long… Less than a month ago we mentioned the upcoming appearance of the Wey Coffee 01 in Israel. The Wey Coffee 01 is a premium luxury SUV with a 476 hp plug-in hybrid system and an electric range of 149 km. And now, finally, we already know the prices! So, the price for the 2023 Wey Coffee 01 in the Israeli market will start from 269,900 shekels. In addition, an 8-year warranty will be offered on the battery (or 160,000 km), and 5 years or 160,000 km on the rest units of the vehicle, whichever comes first.
In terms of equipment level, the Chinese SUV is clearly ready to compete with "giants" such as the Audi Q5, the entry-level version of which costs 381,215 shekels, or the BMW X3, the simplest version of which starts at 358,715 shekels (as of the end of 2022). Therefore, 269,900 shekels is a competitive and attractive price compared to the prices for European models.
The Wey Coffee 01 will be supplied to our market by Samelet, an importer of Subaru, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Jeep and other brands. The company also represents the WEY brand in Israel, a premium brand belonging to the automotive giant Great Wall, whose models were created specifically for the European market. In Israel, the first born of the brand is the Coffee 01, a large 5-seater premium SUV, a flagship model with a hybrid system with a decent electric driving range, a spacious passenger compartment and extensive equipment. The importer estimates that next year it plans to sell about 400 units. In addition, another more compact and cheaper model will join the SUV soon.
Exterior
The SUV is 4,870 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,690 mm high, its wheelbase is 2,910 mm. In size, it is even slightly larger than its direct competitors, but it loses to them in terms of trunk volume (375 liters). The vehicle features thin LED headlights surrounding a large hexagonal grille with chrome accents. Vertical air intakes are installed at the ends of the front bumper. The rear lights have the same shape as the head optics, a feature that makes the rear end look more elegant.
Interior
Inside, there’s everything you want: a 9.2-inch digital dashboard, another 9-inch screen for climate control, heated and ventilated seats, a large 14.6-inch screen for a multimedia system with voice control. However, at this stage there is no integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which will appear later. But there is the possibility of 5G connectivity and OTA update.
Dynamics, driving range and charging
The plug-in hybrid powertrain includes a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 201 horsepower, mated to a 9-speed wet dual-clutch transmission combined with two electric motors: the front one producing 161 hp and the rear one producing 181 hp. The total output of the mighty system is 476 hp (previously listed as 469 hp). It only takes 5 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h, while the top speed is 235 km/h.
The battery capacity of 36.7 kWh makes it possible to travel 146 km in electric mode (according to the WLTP standard). The total driving range (with a full tank) is 800 km. There is a possibility of fast charging with continuous power up to 50 kW: it will take 53 minutes to recharge the battery from 0 to 80%. It will only take you 3 hours and 50 minutes to charge the vehicle using an 11 kW AC charger.
Safety
The new Wey Coffee 01 received the highest rating of 5 stars in all Euro NCAP tests. When you read the list of the SUV’s most advanced safety systems and electronic assistants, you will understand why. It features: adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistant, blind spot monitoring system, lane control system with central alignment, driver fatigue sensor and rear occupant alert, autonomous braking, including when reversing, a traffic sign recognition system and even an automatic lane clearance system for emergency vehicles.
Versions for Israel
In Israel, the new Wey Coffee 01 2023 will be sold in two versions:
- Premium – an entry-level version, which includes: adaptive LED headlights (Matrix LED), automatic high beam, smart key, 360-degree camera, electric handbrake, front parking sensors and rear with automatic parking, electric and heated front seats, electric tailgate, 21-inch wheels, light and rain sensors, separate air conditioning, active noise reduction system, voice control, USB sockets front and rear, a 12-speaker sound system and more. Its price is 269,900 shekels.
- Ksheri (Luxe) - a high-end version, which includes: leather upholstery in combination with Alcantara, advanced screen with augmented reality technology, massaging and ventilated front seats, panoramic roof, rear occupant alert, retractable curtains and much more. Its price is 299,900 shekels.
