2019 Audi RS6 Estate. 4th generation
The Audi RS6 is a premium sports car manufactured by Audi Sport GmbH. The model is based on the Audi A6. Initially, the car could be a sedan or an estate (Avant), but the 3rd and 4th generations come only as estates. In 2021, the fourth generation Audi RS6, presented in August 2019, can be purchased in Israel.
Exterior
The new Audi RS6 Avant features a design reflecting the best traditions of the RS models. The car is distinguished by a swift silhouette, which is emphasized by huge 21-inch wheels (22-inch wheels are optional), low ground clearance, aerodynamic body kit and a large angle of inclination of the fifth door window. And although the new RS6 has kept only the front doors, trunk lid and roof from the original car, the sports estate still has the main stylistic finds of the latest generation A6 sedan and S6 Avant estate. The Audi RS6 Avant features a high-gloss black mesh grille, massive air intakes, two large oval exhaust pipes, a roof spoiler and an original rear bumper with a diffuser. There is a narrow ventilation slot above the radiator grille, a spoiler above the glass of the fifth door and chrome kicking plates.
Interior
The first thing that catches your eye in the interior of the 2019/2020 Audi RS6 is the new infotainment system with a 10.1-inch screen. Its screen no longer stands alone on the dashboard, but is located on the center console, and under the air vents, there is another screen responsible for comfort functions (8.6-inch). In addition, the car has a new 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit with RS-graphics.
The standard trim level of the Audi RS6 Avant includes a truncated sporty steering wheel with the RS logo, as well as special seats with reinforced lateral support. And since we are talking about a car with a cargo-passenger body, we cannot fail to mention the volume of the trunk, which is 565 liters or even 1,680 liters with the rear seats folded down!
Powertrains
In terms of technical equipment, the fourth Audi RS 6 Avant has become more advanced than the previous model. It features an upgraded twin-turbo V8 4.0 TFSI engine that now produces 600 hp and 800 Nm against 560 hp and 700 Nm offered by the last generation car. The engine is now equipped with a mild hybrid system with a belt alternator and 48V starter motor that can develop up to 16 hp. The engine also uses a system that can shut off half of the cylinders for better fuel economy. The mighty estate accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in 12 seconds. The top speed of the standard version is limited to 250 km/h.
The transmission retains the classic 8-speed hydromechanical automatic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive with a Torsen differential between the axles and a limited-slip differential on the rear axle. The Quattro system transfers 40% of power to the front axle and 60% to the rear one. If necessary, the power distribution can be adjusted up to 70% to the front wheels and up to 85% to the rear wheels. The estate has six driving modes: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, as well as extreme RS1 and RS2. The latter two have the fine tuning possibility, and there is a separate button on the steering wheel for their quick activation.
Interestingly, the car is standardly equipped with air suspension and 20 mm lower (in comparison with the conventional A6 Avant estate) ground clearance. When driving at speeds above 120 km/h, the ground clearance is reduced by another 10 mm, and while driving slowly, the ground clearance can be increased by 20 additional millimeters. As an option, the car can be equipped with the RS Sports Suspension Plus featuring steel springs and three-stage adjustable shock absorbers for better handling and less roll.
Equipment
It is clear that this technically advanced car also offers the most advanced technologies: Audi Pre-sense Front, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system, etc. Peripheral cameras are 360 degree. The estate offers excellent sound quality ensured by the Bang & Olufsen sound system with signature surround sound and a panoramic roof comprising two huge sunroofs with electric curtains.
The state-of-the-art multi-matrix LED headlights are standard. A camera installed in the car studies the road surface, vehicles on the road and many other parameters, adjusts the lighting in front using 64 different light sources and multiple reflectors. The advanced system delivers a beam that carefully illuminates the road without dazzling other drivers. The bright light mimics daylight and prevents eye fatigue.
