The Bertone GB110 is a 1,100 hp hypercar from the legendary Italian design studio Bertone, scheduled for release in 2024. The brand’s first car to run on fuel made from plastic waste. And in general, the company’s first model after a long break actually gave Bertone a second life, even its birth is timed to coincide with the 110th anniversary of the venerable studio. Until now, the details of the new hypercar are shrouded in mystery: it is only known that the engine power will be 1,100 hp, the car will receive original exterior body panels, as well as its own lighting equipment, many components and decorative elements will be made in Germany. It is still unclear when and where production will begin. The company decided that it would be enough to produce a batch of 33 hypercars and has already opened the acceptance of orders. Deliveries of the first cars are expected to begin in 2024. Unfortunately, the cost of the new car is not yet known.

A few words about the automaker

Bertone logo
Gruppo Bertone. An Italian automotive company specializing in the manufacture, design and conception of automotive bodies.

Gruppo Bertone is an Italian car manufacturer founded in 1912, specializing in the creation of bodies for many global brands in the automotive industry. The legendary body maker is a pioneer of Italian automotive style (and not only) of the 20th century. The studio has worked with such brands as Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Lancia, Maserati, Ferrari, MG, BMW, Jaguar, Ford and even Volvo, which have become synonymous with impeccable taste all over the world. The company went bankrupt in 2014, and so far its prospects seemed very illusory. Today the brothers Mauro and Jean-Franco Ricci, veterans of the automotive industry, have taken up the torch, with the aim of reviving Bertone through the production of their own models. The Bertone GB110 hypercar is the newest of them, and the creators predict its ability to surprise the world.

Not only the manufacturer, but even the engine configuration and size are still kept secret. Only power information is available. Thus, the car will have a power of 1,100 hp and 1,100 Nm, but the speed characteristics are not yet known. The creators are sure that the new hypercar will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.8 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.79 seconds. The maximum speed will be around 380 km/h. It is also known that the car will be all-wheel drive and will receive a 7-speed robotic gearbox.

Certain components of the GB110 (including the engines) will be manufactured in Germany at the facilities of Audi, owner of Lamborghini. Therefore, after careful analysis of the car, it seems that technically Bertone was based on the Lamborghini Huracan, a supercar with a mid-engine, rear- or all-wheel-drive configuration, which has been produced by the Italian company Lamborghini since 2014. For example, the 2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 engine, which is also installed on the Audi R8 and produces 640 hp at 8,000 rpm and 600 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

The 2024 Bertone GB110 plans to be truly unique: the Italian company intends to ditch liquid hydrocarbon fuels, replacing them with environmentally friendly fuels made from plastic waste. The technology of its manufacture was proposed by scientists from the University of Washington (USA). This valuable technology turns plastic waste into a fuel base in just one hour.
