The new 2018/2019 Audi A1 Sportback has moved to the MQB platform, become a little larger and more powerful. But at the same time it is a subcompact car, which is 4,029 mm long and 1,740 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2,563 mm. The standard range of engines generating from 86 to 185 hp now also includes the engines generating from 95 to 200 hp. In addition to the S line, the buyers can choose between the Basic, Advanced and Edition trim levels (with 18-inch wheels in bronze and black, depending on the body color, tinted optics and other features). The wheel range generally ranges from 15 to 18 inches. Ultra-high-strength steels (including hot-formed) make up 27% of the new body, forming a stronger and stiffer passenger capsule than the A1. Safety systems have also been improved. The new hatchback is equipped with lane departure warning system, radar cruise control with start-stop function, automatic braking with detection of pedestrians and cyclists. The car now has a rear-view camera and an improved parking assistant that ensures parallel and traverse parking.

Modifications

In Israel, the new Audi A1 comes with two turbocharged petrol engines to choose from. The first one is a 1.0-liter engine with 116 hp, which accelerates the hatchback to a maximum of 203 km/h and consumes, on average, 4.8 liters per 100 km. The second engine is a 1.5-liter unit with 150 hp, capable of accelerating to 222 km/h, but it consumes a little more fuel, namely 5 liters per 100 km. Both engines are equipped with a 7-speed semi-automatic transmission.

The car features the same McPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, albeit improved and lightened. At the same time, you can choose between a regular and a sports kit, and for the second one you can also order custom shock absorbers.

Trim levels

Israeli buyers of the 2019/2020 Audi A1 are offered the following basic equipment: 6 airbags, ABS and ASR, collision avoidance system, hill start assist and braking assist system. All the versions are equipped with the 10.25-inch digital dashboard. The central touch screen of the MMI touch system is turned towards the driver by 13 degrees. It diagonal is 8.8 or 10.1 inches, depending on the trim level. You can control multimedia via your smartphone. The car is equipped with a front center armrest, electric package, and active power steering. Moreover, the basic trim level of the new hatchback includes heated windscreens, air conditioning and a fuel-efficient start-stop system.
