BMW 2 series Gran Coupe. Second generation 2019
The BMW 2 Series is a compact C-class car by BMW (Germany), which has been produced since 2014 in coupe, convertible, minivan and sedan bodies. Since 2021, the second generation BMW 2 Series has been on the market, and our review will tell you about the car that can currently be purchased in Israel in the sedan body, namely a restyled 2017 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
The 2017/2018 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe sedan is a 4-door five-seater 4,526 mm long and 1,800 mm wide car, with the trunk volume of 430 liters. The new compact car, built on a front-wheel drive platform with a transverse engine arrangement, only formally belongs to the coupe class, but in fact it is a sedan, featuring a lower and slightly longer roof dome, as well as frameless windows, which makes it look dynamic. The Gran Coupe has no predecessors. It is the first of its kind. The interior of the new Gran Coupe follows the interior of the 1 Series hatchback, as the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is built on the BMW UKL2 platform, which is the same as that of the entire 1 Series family.
Modifications
In Israel, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 136 hp, which accelerates the car to 210 km/h. The engine is complemented by a 8-speed automated transmission.
Trim versions
There are two versions available on Israel’s market: Sport and M-Sport. They feature 6 airbags, front sport seats, front and rear parking sensors, 2-zones climate-control, multifunctional steering wheel, “Start-stop” system to save fuel, electric mirror folding, a multimedia system controlled via smartphone. These versions contain many electronic assistants, including driving mode selection system, driver’s fatigue sensor, lane keeping assist and blind zone monitoring system, and collision avoidance system. The new Gran Coupe in M-Sport version is more comfortable and better equipped. It features a rear-view camera, adapted cruise-control, pedal pads, power steering, and automatic parking system.
