BMW X6. 3rd generation, 2023 restyling
In February 2023, BMW introduced the restyled BMW X6 SUV (as well as the BMW X5). The X6 traces back to 2007, it was then that the concept car premiered in Frankfurt, and the following year the world saw the production version of the SUV with the E71 index, which can be considered the ancestor of the entire class of so-called premium coupe-like SUVs. BMW itself classifies the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe or SAC. The manufacturer currently produces the third generation SUV with the factory index G06, which premiered in the summer of 2019, which means that the planned restyling is more than relevant. It is still unknown how much the restyled SUV will cost or when it appears in Israel.
In Israel, the previous generation BMW X6 was offered at a price of 654,815 shekels, namely a diesel version. The top-end xDrive M50i will already cost around 929,815 shekels. All the prices are valid for the end of 2022.
Exterior
The 2023 restyling brought the BMW X6 a new front bumper with narrow vertical inserts along the edges and a wider air intake at the bottom. Another significant difference is the noticeably narrower headlights with faceted LED daytime running lights. The taillights feature updated LED light graphics while maintaining the shape. From now on, all versions of the X6 will hit the market with the M Sport package.
Interior
The vehicle comes with a digital monoblock combining a 12.3-inch dashboard and a 14.9-inch multimedia screen, slightly curved towards the driver. With it, the new BMW X6 has become clearly more technologically advanced. The new 8th generation iDrive media system includes over-the-air updates, voice control, and wireless extensions for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, it has received a new transmission gear selector. The list of the latest electronic security assistants has been significantly expanded, which includes: traffic light recognition system, safe exit assist, automatic speed control in accordance with data transmitted by the navigation system, automatic lane change assist, lane keeping assist and much more. The automatic parking system has been upgraded, so the SUV can drive the last 200 meters on its own, and with the help of a special application you can park the car from the outside (works only for happy iPhone owners).
Powertrains
All the restyled 2023 BMW X6 models come standard with new adaptive dampers and anti-roll bars that can be upgraded to include air springs, M adaptive dampers, rear steering and an M rear differential. From now on, each engine is equipped with a starter-generator, which is built into the 8-speed automatic gearbox: it helps in the first seconds of acceleration, adding 12 hp and 200 Nm. Buyers can choose between the xDrive 40i gasoline and the powerful M60i versions. Plus, there is also the xDrive 30d diesel version.
- The BMW X6 xDrive 40i is an all-wheel drive version with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder biturbo engine producing 380 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while its maximum speed reaches 250 km/h.
- The BMW X6 M60i is a top-end sports all-wheel drive version with a 48-volt system that combines mild hybrid technology based on a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo engine with an electric motor. The total capacity of the powertrain is 530 hp. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, while its maximum speed reaches 250 km/h.
- The BMW X6 xDrive 30d is an all-wheel drive version with a 3.0-liter biturbo diesel engine producing 286 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 6.1 seconds, while the maximum speed reaches 233 km/h.
