BMW Z4. Sporty and fast
BMW Z4 is a 2-seat sports car from the German BMW, produced since 2002. It has been available in roadster and coupe bodywork. On the today’s Israeli market, Roadster BMW Z4 2018 is available.
First generation
First-generation BMW Z4 has been produced from 2002 to 2008, and underwent the restyling in 2006. The first Z4 was an open-body roadster with a soft convertible top. The hardtop coupe only appeared in 2006. A convertible top of the Z4 was designed for manual folding, but could be equipped with an electrohydraulic drive for extra cost, making the body conversion fully automatic. The rear windshield was a power window made not of plastic but of a special, scratch-free glass. The bodywork of the first Z4 was made of the high-strength steel, and the hood was made of aluminium to reduce the weight.
Second generation
The second-generation BMW Z4 was produced from 2009 to 2017, and it was restyled in 2013. The second-generation Z4 already had a hard folding roof, and became the first car of this type in the history of BMW. The main dimensions and technical ‘stuffing’ of the second Z4 remained the same, but the bodywork was completely new and had a hard roof consisting of two aluminum parts folding into the trunk. In just 20 seconds, fully automatic, the car turned from an open roadster into a closed coupe and back. The most interesting innovation in the second-generation Z4 chassis was the adaptive M-suspension to be installed for an extra fee. Sensors controlled the car’s driving parameters, and electronics adjusted the rigidity of each shock absorber in a fraction of a second.
Third generation
The third generation BMW Z4 is produced since 2018 until now. The all-new Z4 roadster has a soft roof that folds automatically in 10 seconds even whn driving at a speed up to 50 km/h. The new Z4, created on the same platform with the Toyota Supra, is larger in size, but its wheelbase is slightly smaller. Externally, the BMW Z4 2018/2019 is distinguished by clear and precise lines. Both with raised and lowered roof roadster looks sporty and fast. And a wide range of driving-assistance systems increase comfort and safety of driving. The adaptive M-suspension, brakes, and electronic locking differential included as standard in the BMW Z4 sports version take the roadster’s driveability to an even higher level.
