How to add more range to your Audi e-tron
Owners of the Audi e-tron will soon be able to update their software to improve efficiency. This has already been done for the 2020 e-tron Sportback and allows vehicles to switch off the front engine when driving and increase the useful capacity of the high-voltage battery. It’s free, and Audi promises to contact the owners directly as soon as it can provide improvements. For the moment, this concerns European car owners, but we are sure that this bonus will also be available in Israel.
Israeli buyers can purchase the 2018-2019 Audi e-tron with all-wheel drive. The all-electric mid-size luxury SUV is powered by two asynchronous three-phase electric motors, one for each wheel pair. The total output reaches 360 hp and 561 Nm of torque. The battery capacity is 95 kW/h. The driving range is 379 km. The Audi e-tron accelerates to the first 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the maximum speed is limited to 200 km/h.
The software update will increase the driving range by 20 kilometers, that is, by about 5%. The updated software increases the net power of the battery to 86 kWh. The only inconvenience: you will have to visit the dealer, since the promised update is not available ‘over the air’. The thermoregulation system will also be updated: the volumetric flow rate of the coolant is reduced, which means less energy consumption.
We are looking forward to the restyling of the Audi e-tron, which is expected in the second half of 2022. The vehicle will receive a new battery and more efficient electric motors, which should increase the driving range to 600 kilometers. And to make the model look fresh, its exterior will also be redesigned.
