The Kia Stinger is a rear-wheel drive D-class liftback from the South Korean car manufacturer, Kia Motors, produced since 2017. There are also four-wheel drive versions. In 2020, the first generation Kia Stinger could be purchased on the Israeli market.
Kia Stinger was shortlisted for the European Car of the Year 2018 and was one of the top three finalists for the North American Car Utility and Truck of the Year award.
The first generation
The first generation Kia Stinger is partly based on the 2011 GT concept and is designed entirely by the European division of Kia. The Stinger is the very model the company intends to use to compete with premium compact models from Germany and Japan. But the wheelbase and dimensions of the Stinger allow the car to compete even with some mid-size business class models.
Distinctive features
The KIA Stinger is 4,831 mm long, 1,869 mm wide, and 1,400 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,905 mm. The luggage trunk of the car is equipped with a curtain, and the top versions include an electric drive for opening the trunk. The trunk volume is 406 liters, and it can reach 1,114 liters with the backs of the 2nd row seat folded down.
The 2017/2018 Kia Stinger is equipped with an independent suspension: front - MacPherson struts, rear - multi-link. The car is equipped with disc brakes (front ventilated), electronic parking brake, and electric power steering. The all-wheel drive system has an electronically controlled clutch for automatic connection of the front axle. The rear-wheel drive versions also have a limited slip differential.
Exterior
A beautiful coupe-like silhouette, a low roof, a long hood and a short front overhang make the Stinger more eye-catching.

Interior
The basic trim version of the 2020 Kia Stinger has LED daytime running lights and taillights, full power accessories, keyless entry and engine start with a button, and climate control. The standard equipment includes the ESC stability control system, an electric handbrake, frontal, side and knee airbags, rain and light sensors, and an electrochromic interior mirror. More expensive trim versions will offer LED headlights, head-up display, and parking sensors. The top version of the Stinger is equipped with a four-camera surround view system, turning headlights, automatic emergency braking, intelligent cruise control and other equipment.
