Lexus UX SUV. First generation. Released since 2018

Lexus UX is a compact SUV from Lexus, a luxury division of the Japanese automobile maker, Toyota Motor Corporation, which has been produced since 2018. Both front and all-wheel drive versions are available, plus there are hybrid models. In 2020, Israeli buyers could purchase the 2018 first generation Lexus UX 5-Door SUV.

The 2018/2019 Lexus UX 5-Door 5-Seater SUV is compact in size: 4,495 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. Its trunk volume reaches 438 liters.

Exterior and interior

Starting from its bold front face with a signature grille and ending with its sporty silhouette and unique rear end design, the 2020 Lexus UX forms a new way to perceive this SUV. The interior of the new model is also beautiful: the design is based on the Japanese architectural concept of Engawa, according to which the boundaries between interior and exterior space seem to not exist at all.

Inspired by this concept, which blurs the lines between the exterior and interior of the house, the UX model designers have developed an interior that creates an atmosphere of smooth transitions. From the driver’s seat, the top of the dashboard appears to extend past the windshield onto the fenders. This effect provides excellent visibility from the driver’s seat and makes it possible to feel the dimensions of the vehicle and the location of the wheels as accurately as possible. When viewed from the outside of the vehicle, the hood appears to flow into the dashboard through the windshield.

Modifications

In Israel, the new Lexus UX is available as a front-wheel drive vehicle only. It is equipped with two power packages to choose from: a 2-liter petrol engine with 173 hp and a hybrid engine running on both petrol and electricity, with a 2-liter 184 hp petrol engine. Both are complemented by a gear box. The first engine provides a speed of 190 km/h, while the second one accelerates to 177 km/h. But please note that the average fuel consumption of the second engine is only 4.9 liters per 100 km versus 6.5 liters consumed by the first one.

Trim versions

Israeli buyers can choose from the Luxury and Premium trim versions of the 2019/2020 Lexus UX, and the hybrid model with an 184 hp engine can additionally be equipped with the F-Sport package that offers kicking plates and pedal pads and front sports seats. The Premium and F-Sport Lexus UX trims have a sunroof and panoramic roof, tinted glass, leather interior, heated front seats. All models are equipped with diode headlights, daytime running lights and foglights, as well as R18 alloy wheels.

All the 2020 Lexus UX trim versions provide at least 7 airbags, including the window ones, central locking, rear camera, rear and front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control (except for F-Sport), driving mode selection system, ABS and ASR, lane control and traffic sign recognition system (except for F-Sport), brake assist, collision avoidance, and stability assist.
