Mercedes GLB Crossover. 1st generation 2019
Mercedes GLB is a luxury compact crossover from the German Mercedes-Benz brand, which has been produced since 2019. It can be both front- and all-wheel drive. You could buy the first generation of this crossover on the Israel market in 2020.
5-door crossover can be presented in both 5-seater and 7-seater versions. It has dimensions: 4634 mm in length, 1834 mm in width, and 1658 mm in height, wheelbase is 2829 mm, the trunk volume is 570 liters minimum, and 1805 liters if the second row of seats folded.
Distinctive features
The new Mercedes GLB impresses with an elegant yet powerful silhouette and distinctive rear part. The crossover is built on a modular platform MFA2, which is distinguished by a transverse engine layout and basic front-wheel drive. Externally, the crossover is similar to the iconic G-class. Short body overhangs, a high roof, almost vertically standing side windows, and a small angle of inclination of the windshield demonstrate similarity to the legendary ‘Gelendvagen’ even without sharp edges, round headlights, and drainage grooves on the roof. At the same time, the new GLB is much more compact, elegant and modern, and original! There are almost smooth sides, a break in the window sill line, a visor over the vertical tailgate. We have not seen such cars yet. The driving character of the GLB matches the larger and more status models of the German manufacturer. Comfort and smoothness are combined with excellent handling. Inside, it is spacious and as functional as possible.
Well, you should remember that the G-Class is a pure niche product because only the wealthiest drivers can afford GLS, but GLB will suit a much wider audience. 2020 Mercedes GLB is larger than BMW X1 and Audi Q3, but smaller than X3 and Q5. This model stands apart in terms of size, style, and the presence of the third row of seats. The GLB is truly versatile, stylish, and distinctive. It is designed for the widest audience in all its qualities.
Modifications
Front-wheel drive models are equipped with either a 1.3-liter gasoline turbo engine with 163 hp or two 2-liter turbodiesels to choose from 116 hp. and 150 hp. The engines are complemented by a 7- or 8-speed automated manual transmission. Diesel engines are more economical, average fuel consumption is about 5 liters per 100 km. The dynamics of a gasoline 116-hp. engine is almost the same as a 150-horsepower diesel engine. Acceleration time to 100 km/h is 9.1 and 9 seconds, respectively.
All-wheel drive models are equipped with a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine with 224 hp., or two turbodiesels: 150 and 190 hp. If you want to go faster, you can try the GLB 250 4Matic. A two-liter 224-hr. engine paired with an 8-speed automated manual transmission accelerates the crossover to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and allows you to a maximum speed of 236 km/h. And diesel versions 200 d and 220 d are suitable for those who want to get all-wheel drive with lower financial costs.

All are equipped with at least six airbags, central locking, child seat mounting system, cruise control, driving mode selection system, front and rear parking sensors with automatic parking system (except Comfort), brake assist, and collision avoidance system, as well as stabilization system.
