5-door hatchback MINI Hatch. 3rd generation, restyled in 2021
MINI Hatch (MINI Hatch) is a front-wheel drive 3- or 5-door 5-seater hatchback of the B-class, which has been produced since 2001 under the MINI trademark under the auspices of the German BMW group. In 2021, the third generation of the hatchback is available in the Israeli market both after 2018 restyling and re-updated in 2021 (expected receipt).
The 5-door 5-seater hatchback model year 2021 has the following dimensions: the length is 4005 mm, the width is 1727 mm, the height is 1425 mm, and the wheelbase is 2567 mm. The trunk volume is 278/941 liters. It is longer and slightly taller than its three-door sibling, and also has an increased wheelbase.
Distinctive features
The new MINI 5-door hatchback is similar, familiar, but different. It sports a new hexagonal grille with a wide black bezel. The grille holes are now quite small, and the body-colored insert is located in the centel section. Previously, fog lights were installed in the corners of the bumper, now the vertical slots of the air intakes are in their place. Incandescent lamps in fog lamps have been replaced with LEDs. Side mirrors are now not a simple oval, but a slightly more original shape. In the interior of the 2021 five-door car, a multifunctional steering wheel with leather trim appeared, the traditional dashboard instrument cluster was replaced by a digital display tablet, and so on. For example, the design of the buttons was changed. One of the significant innovations is the introduction of an optional adaptive suspension, which can increase stiffness by up to 50%. The new MINI Hatch has become more responsive in handling and is even more like a sports car in behavior.
Motors
After 2021 restyling of the 5-door MINI Hatch, the engines and transmissions have remained the same, at least for European models. While there is information that MINI Cooper will be equipped with the same engine as before, a 3-cylinder petrol 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, boosted to 136 hp. Diesel engines from the Mini range were completely excluded back in 2019, due to tightening environmental standards. Transmissions to choose from are 6-speed manual transmission with an acceleration time from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds or 7-speed automated manual transmission with two clutches with an acceleration time from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Their top speed is almost the same, 207-210 km/h.
