Volkswagen Caravelle Minivan Long. 6th generation, 2019 restyling
The Volkswagen Caravelle is a nine-seater minivan based on the Transporter lightweight commercial van, produced by Volkswagen since 1980. Currently, the market can already offer the sixth generation of the minivan, which is equipped with turbocharged diesel and petrol engines (from 102 to 204 hp), a manual transmission or a DSG, front or all-wheel drive. The Caravelle is available in two length versions and comes with a huge list of options (as of 2021).
The Volkswagen Caravelle Minivan Long is a longer version of the car that appeared in 2019. 6-9 seater versions are available. The minivan is 5,304 mm long, 1,904 mm wide and 1,970 mm high, with the wheelbase of 3,400 mm. The maximum trunk compartment volume reaches 6,700 liters. The trunk length behind the third row is 1,118 mm, with the total volume of the cabin behind the front row of seats reaching 5,000 liters.
Distinctive features
The restyled minivan has slightly changed outside. Thus, it has acquired a larger radiator grille and LED taillights. But the interior has undergone significant changes, acquiring more pockets and niches for storing small items, documents and other things. The large double shelf under the windshield is equipped with a 12V socket. The driver and passenger seats are height adjustable and have armrests. There are two side doors for rear passengers (with the possibility of installing an electric drive). The driver will appreciate the original Composition Color sound system with a 6.5-inch color screen. The Climatronic 3-zone climate control will ensure an optimal microclimate.
Engines
In Israel, the new Volkswagen Caravelle Minivan Long is offered in two front-wheel drive versions. The car is powered by a 2-liter diesel engine with a DSG, which can produce either 150 or 204 hp. The Caravelle is fuel-efficient thanks to its propulsion system and BlueMotion technology. The standard Start-Stop system turns off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, thereby reducing fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
Trim levels
The trim levels of the 2020/2021 Volkswagen Caravelle Minivan Long for Israel include a tire pressure sensor, driver fatigue sensor, rear camera, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, active FRONT ASSIST system to prevent head-on car accidents, rear cross traffic alert system and an active lane keeping assist system. The car is equipped with 4 airbags, clutch control systems and vehicle dynamic control, hill start assist, and a brake assist system. There is an electronic differential lock, which contributes to better traction and a higher level of safety. Smart electronic assistants recognize pedestrians and cyclists, traffic signs, and prevent collisions.
The multimedia system supports Carplay and Android Auto. All the windows are tinted, while a windshield, side mirrors and front seats are heated. The list of equipment also includes 3-zone climate control, a multifunction steering wheel and, importantly, a full-size spare wheel.
