New BMW X7 2023. Already in Israel
The new 2023 BMW X7 is already in Israel: the start of sales was announced by Delek Motors, the BMW importer in Israel. The BMW X7 is a full-size 3-row 6- or 7-seater SUV produced by the German automaker BMW since 2018. The premium vehicle combines off-road performance and luxury finishes. In April 2022, the first generation SUV was deeply restyled: the updated BMW X7 offers a trendier design and a modern passenger compartment with the new iDrive 8 system. The model features a lot of accessories to ensure comfort and safety, as well as a new biturbo 8-cylinder engine with a hybrid system in the form of a 48-volt starter-generator.
At the start of sales, the new 2023 BMW X7 is offered at a price of 920,000 shekels, in particular that's how much the xDrive40d hybrid diesel modification costs. You can pre-order it today. The SUV will be available for sale in the first quarter of 2023, and then other versions may appear.
Exterior
The new design is distinguished by double-deck optics: a narrow strip of daytime running lights is placed separately, above the main headlights, which are now equipped as standard with adaptive matrix optics with cornering illumination and anti-dazzle high beam. The blocks are recessed into the bumper and covered with darkened plastic so as not to stand out too much. There are no more separate fog lights, as they have been replaced by a special mode of operation of the main headlights. The front bumper has been updated, the radiator grille has received two-color slats, and it can also be equipped with lighting for an extra charge. The taillights are equipped with thinner sections and a three-dimensional pattern. The chrome jumper between the lights is now enclosed in a transparent ‘glass’ case. Base wheels are 20-inch as before, but 23-inch diamond polished wheels are available as an option.
Interior
The interior has also been updated: a curved display combines a 12.3-inch dashboard and a 14.9-inch screen under a common glass. Climate control is integrated into the media system. A luminous strip extends from the steering column to the right door. The center console has kept its buttons responsible for changing driving modes and setting the standard air suspension. Instead of the traditional automatic joystick, there is a miniature selector with an optional crystal lever. The driver’s and passenger’s seats are standardly heated and trimmed with natural leather (for European versions). The third row is standard equipment, the second row can be ordered both as a standard 3-seater bench and as a pair of separate seats with individual electric adjustments.
Trim level for Israel
In Israel, the new 2023 BMW X7 will be offered in xDrive40d with a single Exclusive trim level that includes: Merino leather upholstery, power front seats with memory, heating and ventilation functions, heated rear seats, 5-zone split climate control, wireless Apple Car-Play connection and wireless charging pad, power steering wheel, and Type C connectors for all seats. All rows comprise electric folding seats, and there is an electric tailgate. In addition, cup holders are equipped with active heating/cooling. There is a smart key, a power panoramic sunroof, electric side curtains on the second row and a Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system. The standard package includes 22-inch wheels, an overhead display, light and rain sensors, ambient lighting and more.
Driving characteristics
The BMW X7 xDrive40d modification, offered at the start of sales in Israel, is a MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle). The 3.0-liter turbo diesel 6-cylinder produces 340 hp and 714 Nm, but with the help of a starter-generator, the total output reaches 352 hp and 720 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 5.9 seconds, the top speed is 245 km/h. Combined fuel consumption averages 12.7 km per liter. Even the entry-level SUV is equipped with an air suspension with a clearance adjustment range of 80 mm, adaptive dampers and steering with a variable gear ratio.
In addition to the diesel version offered in Israel, there are also gasoline ones (perhaps they will be brought to us later). The new BMW X7 xDrive40i is equipped with an upgraded 3.0-liter turbo in-line engine with new injection and ignition with a capacity of 380 hp and a torque of 520 Nm. Taking into account the starter-generator, the torque reaches 540 Nm, although it does not have any effect on the maximum power. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was reduced to 5.8 seconds. The top-end BMW X7 M60i xDrive is equipped with a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine that produces 530 hp and 750 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The starter-generator has not changed the limiting performance in any way.
Safety
The list of safety equipment is extensive: Autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, active blind spot monitoring, front and rear cross traffic monitoring, active steering when assistance for emergency maneuvering, etc.
In Israel, the start of sales of the new seventh generation BMW 7 Series sedan has been announced. The initial cost is stated at around 990,000 shekels. The electric version is already available for purchase at a price of 1,250,000 shekels. More details can be found here.
