Zibar MK2 SUV. True all-terrain vehicle
When you look at the Zibar military all-terrain vehicle, you cannot help but compare it with the Hummer and Unimog. But our Zibar is cooler! The mighty SUV, developed by Ido Off-Road Center owned by Ido Cohen, a self-taught desiner and Dakar racer, is currently being produced in Israel as a convertible platform that flexibly provides the ability to adapt to the needs of a particular client. At any time, it can be redesigned again to meet rapidly changing conditions and needs. After 2020, military equipment belongs to IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) and its subsidiary ELTA. All-terrain vehicles bought by IAI from their creator received a new official name ELTA’s Z-Family, and the MK2 is now simply called the Zibar. By the way, there is a Russian copy of the old version of the Zibar MK2 called “Scorpion”, used by the special forces in Chechnya.
The Zibar is intended for special forces, anti-terrorist units, police and other similar departments. The vehicle has amazing off-road characteristics, a powerful and high-torque engine from General Motors, a reliable automatic transmission, high functionality, mobility and survivability. This is a real soldier.
Exterior
The new Zibar is 5,000 mm long, 2,200 mm wide and 1,950 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,600 mm. Its curb weight is 2,850 kg, the payload is 2,500 kg, and the gross weight reaches 5,350 kg. The ground clearance is 380 mm, which allows the all-terrain vehicle to overcome steps up to 0.4 m high and water obstacles up to 0.8 m deep. Very short overhangs complement the stunning off-road geometry: the approach angle is 90 degrees, while the departure angle is 38 degrees. The vehicle is incredibly resistant to rollover with the longitude angle of 100% and the lateral angle of 65%. The cab can be either double or single.
Engines
The new 2020/2021 Zibar is equipped with a 6-liter gasoline engine producing 360 hp at 5,400 rpm, coupled with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a 3-liter turbocharged diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are rigid Dan axles with differential locks at the front and at the rear. The SUV is capable of accelerating to 120 km/h, and the driving range without refueling amounts 350 km. Adding a second fuel tank doubles this mileage.
