Update:

In 2020, the second generation vehicle underwent restyling.

Peugeot 3008 is a compact 5-door SUV produced by Peugeot since 2009. The first generation, which underwent restyling in 2014, was produced until 2015. In 2016, the second generation 3008 was released. In 2020, the second generation model was available in Israel. The Peugeot 3008 is the most decorated Peugeot SUV, having already won 35 most prestigious world awards in various nominations.

The first generation

The first generation of the Peugeot 3008, built on the PSA PF2 platform, looked like a rather large hatchback, rightly considered a minivan. The front-wheel drive Peugeot 308 minivan won a lot of prizes from European automobile associations and publications for its performance, comfort, corporate merits, and other features. It is worth noting individually that the first 3008 models had one of the best-in-class drag coefficient of 0.296. The first generation 3008 had a range of 1.6 to 2.0 liter petrol and diesel engines producing from 109 to 200 hp. The MacPherson strut independent suspension was in the front, and a torsion bar semi-independent suspension was in the rear.

In 2014, the car underwent restyling, keeping the same PSA PF2 platform. The restyled version of the 3008 retained the same dimensions, but started looking more like a crossover with the new radiator grille and headlights. Therefore, in the future, the Peugeot 3008 was already called a SUV, although it continued to be an exclusively front-wheel-drive golf class city car, which was equipped with such electronic assistance systems as a traction-control system with special ‘off-road’ modes and an imitation of a cross-axle differential lock.

The second generation

The second generation 3008 was designed in accordance with the Peugeot Quartz concept on the new EMP2 platform from PSA Group, which is also used in the new Peugeot 308, 408 and Citroen C4 Picasso. Released at the end of 2016, the second generation Peugeot 3008 already looks like a 100% crossover. The new Peugeot 3008 is slightly larger than its predecessor and has a longer wheelbase. It has better energy intensity and suspension travel, as well as a greater ground clearance. That’s why it had to become slightly “lighter”. Thus, the rear row seat body, fenders and front suspension arms are made of aluminum, and the trunk lid and its floor are completely plastic. The second generation Peugeot 3008 has also managed to win high-profile awards. But, however, it is still front-wheel drive only.

The new Peugeot 3008 is a real piece of technical and technological art literally in every detail!

The Peugeot 3008 has twice passed the Euro NCAP crash test. In 2009, it received 86% for adult safety, 81% for child safety, 97% for active safety and only 31% for pedestrian safety. In 2016, the second generation Peugeot 3008 passed the European New Car Assessment Program test again. And, surprisingly, although the safety for an adult passenger and for a child, practically did not change, the pedestrian safety increased to 67%! However, the active safety dropped to 58%.

Exterior and interior

The exterior of the modern Peugeot 3008 looks French-inspired and eye-catching: an unusual very wide rear pillar, which is actually made of glass, a lot of chrome and stainless steel roof moldings, the bottom of the doors and wheel arches finished with matte black plastic. All of this makes the car look elegant and bold. The original design solution of the front LED headlights, similar to the cat’s eyes, the signature lion “fangs” formed by the bumper guard protrusions look as if they’re overlapping some part of the headlights. And the rear part has claws! The 3D LED claws are visible at any time of the day and are a striking feature of the 3008. And last but not the least, the panoramic roof, which forms a significant part of the stylish appearance of the new car and fills the interior of the Peugeot 3008 with daylight. The interior of the 2019/2020 Peugeot 3008 is equipped with a new i-Cockpit Amplify system, which instantly adapts the interior atmosphere in the car to any mood: you can adjust the interior lighting intensity, change the display colors, etc.

The French car industry was never short of surprises! And the latest generation Peugeot 3008 is proof of that! It is a real piece of technical and technological art literally in every detail!
