In January 2023, Renault introduced a new version of the Renault Megane RS Ultime hot hatchback, limited to 1,976 units. It replaces the RS and RS Trophy modifications, and most importantly, closes the history of the Renault Sport division: from now on, Alpine Cars will be responsible for sports models of the Renault Group. The Renault Megane RS is a powerful version of the popular Megane model, which has been produced since September 2004. The prefix “RS” stands for “Renault Sport”. The sports hot hatch was named "Best Hot Hatch" by British magazine What car? and "Best Non-Supercar" by Evo magazine, "Car of the Year 2011" and "Best Hot Hatch" by Top Gear.
Origins
The Renault Megane RS Ultime is the latest production version of the 4th generation Renault Megane RS. The car was based on the Renault Megane RS Trophy hatchback, which is equipped with a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine boosted up to 300 hp, Cup sports suspension, full-steering chassis, Torsen self-locking differential, Brembo brakes and lightweight wheels. Just like the Trophy, the car comes with a manual gearbox or 6-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox.
In Israel, the new Renault Megane RS is available in two versions: the Cup with a 279 hp turbocharged engine with a starting price of 238,356 shekels and the Trophy with a 300 hp turbocharged engine with a starting price of 258,392 shekels (as of the end of 2022). The engines are combined with 6-speed robotic gearboxes. The models are front-wheel drive.
Distinctive features
The Ultime version is distinguished by numerous black decorative elements (emblems, door handles, rims, etc.) and matte stripes on the body. The left front door features the numbers ‘1976’, which is the year the Renault Sport division was founded, as well as the edition of the Ultimae version. The body of the 2023 Renault Megane RS Ultime is distinguished by extended arches. The car is equipped with (below on the center console) a car serial number plate and the autograph of Laurent Hurgon, a talented Renault Sport test driver. Plus, the list of equipment includes Recaro sports seats, as well as a full range of options, including a heads-up display or a sunroof.
