2016 Lincoln Continental Sedan. 10th generation
The Lincoln Continental is a luxury car, which was manufactured by Lincoln (Ford’s division) from 1939 to 2002 and was brought back to life in 2016. Despite having a lot in common with less expensive Ford cars, the Continental has its own recognizable style, many additional options and superb equipment.
The new Lincoln Continental is the leader in terms of pricing. It can offer practically the same features as the competitors (Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series), but costs significantly less, even cheaper than the Kia K900. And this car is not inferior to the above-mentioned models in all other qualities. This is its main advantage.
Size and power
The tenth generation of the 2016 Lincoln Continental is a large sedan, 5.1 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, with a 4.5 meter wheelbase. The volume of cargo space behind the rear seats reaches 5.1 cubic meters, whereas the unladen weight is about 2 tons.
The automaker has not splurged on the engine for its sedan. Thus, the car is standardly equipped with a 3.7-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with 305 hp. And even more powerful units are available, including a 2.7-liter V6 engine with 335 hp and a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine with 400 hp. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Form and substance
The 2016/2017 Lincoln Continental looks like a classic premium sedan of the 21st century. Perhaps its exterior is even too modest for Lincoln, featuring a straight mid-section profile, bumper, roof and hood united by a single line without sharp transitions for better aerodynamic characteristics. Lincoln has even resisted the temptation to screw a giant grille to the large sedan. By the way, the car features a grille with a new design and of moderate size.
