Suzuki Swift Hatchback. The fifth generation. Released since 2016

Suzuki Swift is a subcompact 5-door front-wheel drive B-class hatchback produced by Suzuki (Japan) since 1983. There are five generations of the Swift on the market, the latest of which has been available on the Israeli market since 2016.

The new Swift is still quite compact: 3,840 mm long and 1,735 mm wide, with a basic trunk volume of 242 liters. The 5-door 5-seater front-wheel drive version is available in Israel, although there are all-wheel drive versions.

Distinctive features

The design of the latest Swift consists of the prominent sports elements: a spoiler visor, a massive tailgate, a compact configuration of taillights, shortened overhangs and a metal part of the body kit with integrated pipes of the exhaust system. As a result, the 2019/2020 Suzuki Swift can be called one of the most attractive and affordable hatchbacks on the automotive market.

Modifications

The 2019/2020 Suzuki Swift is supplied to the Israeli market with a 1.2-liter petrol engine with 90 hp. You can choose an automatic or manual transmission. The maximum speed of the automatic transmission is 175 km/h, while the manual transmission provides a speed of 180 km/h. Their average fuel consumption is practically the same: within 4.6-4.7 liters per 100 km.

Trim versions

Only one GLX trim version of the 2020 Suzuki Swift is available in Israel, but it is quite decent. There is an anti-theft system with an immobilizer and central locking. There is cruise control. The safety and driver assistance systems are represented by ABS, ASR, brake assist (BAS, EBD, EBA), electronic stability program (ESP), as well as hill start assist (HSA) and hill descent control (HDC).

The multimedia system is quite advanced and can even be controlled via a smartphone. And with such indispensable ‘amenities’ as 1-zone climate control, on-board computer, keyless access, multifunctional steering wheel, electrically folding mirrors and interior lighting, the new Suzuki Swift seems quite a comfortable car. The adaptive lighting system and automatic headlight range control will become a pleasant and handy bonus.
