Suzuki Vitara SUV. The second generation, restyling. Released since 2018

Suzuki Vitara is a compact SUV produced by Suzuki (Japan) since 1988. Israeli buyers can purchase the second generation Vitara after the 2018 restyling.

Although, in fact, it is the fourth, considering the release of the Grand Vitara.

The new Suzuki Vitara 5-door 5-seater SUV is very compact in size: 4,175 mm long and 1,775 mm wide. Its wheelbase reaches 2,500 mm. The trunk volume is 375 liters. The front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions are available on the Israeli market.

Distinctive features

The new Suzuki Vitara can be called a reborn. It is now a front-wheel-drive 5-door SUV. There are also all-wheel drive modifications. The 2018/2019 Vitara is built on a shortened SX-4 platform and is significantly smaller than the previous generation Grand Vitara, which allows it to fit into a compact class. The New Vitara is distinguished by modern design, high level of comfort and safety. The upgraded 2018/2019 Vitara boasts a new front bumper, a new 4.2’ display inside and Suzuki Safety System, which is also installed on the Jimny and Swift.

Modifications

In Israel, the 2019/2020 Suzuki Vitara is supplied with a 1.0-liter petrol engine with 112 hp, providing a maximum speed of 180 km/h. The average fuel consumption for the front-wheel drive version is 6 liters per 100 km, for the all-wheel drive version it is 5.7 liters per 100 km. A 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 140 hp is also available for the front-wheel drive version. It is a bit more ‘sportive’, allowing the Vitara to accelerate to 200 km/h, and consumes a little less fuel than a 1-liter version, namely 5.9 liters per 100 km. All the versions are equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The front-wheel drive Suzuki Vitara, like the Suzuki Crossover, has independent spring suspension both at the front and in the back. The wheelbase is 2.5 m, and the minimum turning radius is quite consistent with the compact class, amounting to 5.2 m. The all-wheel drive versions of the Vitara use the ALLGRIP 4WD system. It allows you to select the optimal driving mode by setting the engine, transmission and ESP system. You can switch between them using the selector located on the center console.

Trim versions

One of the most top-class trim versions (GLX) of the 2020 Suzuki Vitara is offered to Israeli buyers, which includes climate control, tinted glass, multifunction steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, electric drive and heated side mirrors. The comfort is ensured by the active power steering, rear and front parking sensors, and a keyless access system. The exterior of the new Suzuki Vitara GLX is embellished with decorative moldings, roof rails and LED headlights.

The standard ABS, ASR, brake assist (BAS, EBD, EBA) and electronic stability program (ESP) are complemented by the hill start assist (HSA) and hill descent control (HDC), as well as the collision avoidance system. The all-wheel drive Vitara is equipped with the driving mode selection system.
