The Volkswagen T-Roc is a compact SUV based on the popular Golf with a length of only 4.23 m, built on the MQB A1 platform. It also has an open-top version, dubbed the Volkswagen T-Roc Convertible. The vehicle’s premiere, which took place in 2017, proved that the manufacturer wanted to attract buyers with its clever design and rich equipment, but also with its spectacular style. They tried to create a vehicle that made you feel something and they succeeded: the prominent wheel arches, the sloped rear window, the two-tone variants and the eye-catching two-tone interior.

In November 2021, the manufacturer introduced a restyled version of the SUV with the R Line sports package. The T-Roc R with 300 hp and Cabrio convertible have been preserved and restyled. The manufacturer put a lot of attention and effort to the vehicle because this model was of great importance to VW. The Volkswagen T-Roc enjoys great popularity in the European market, with sales volumes reaching 160-200 thousand vehicles every year. Over a million vehicles have already been sold all over the world. In Europe, the Volkswagen T-Roc will be available in spring 2022. It is a pity that this compact SUV is not available in Israel, as it is cute, eye-catching and has a wide range of engines.

However, Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase the new Volkswagen T-Cross, a typical urban SUV with black plastic linings around the body, "passenger car" ground clearance and with front-wheel drive only. It is supplied with a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 115 hp. The maximum speed is 193 km/h. The engine is paired with a 7-speed robotic gearbox.

Exterior

The restyled 2021/2022 Volkswagen T-Roc with the R Line package features new bumpers and large light elements on the sides of the front bumper, with the LED fog lights-dashes instead of running lights. The list of options now includes IQ.Light matrix optics, complemented by an elegant LED strip across the entire width of the ‘face’, from headlight to headlight. The radiator grille has also changed. There are also dynamic direction indicators. The tail lights have new structure. The vehicle now can offer a new wheel design with a ‘grown-up’ diameter, ranging from 16 to 19 inches. These are standard measures usually taken during restyling, but they make the new T-Roc look more modern and attractive.

Interior

The interior has changed noticeably. The vehicle has acquired a new front panel and new, more ‘noble’, finishing materials with colored inserts. The MIB3multimedia system is completely new, featuring a screen with a diagonal of 6.5, 8.0 or 9.2 inches, which is now installed higher, above the ventilation deflectors. The digital dashboard is now standard, and the climate control has acquired touch controls, while the usual steering wheel has been replaced by a fashionable one with touch buttons.

Engines

On the technical side, the restyling hasn’t touched either the engine range or the suspension. In Europe, the new Volkswagen T-Roc comes with the same engines, starting from a 1.0-liter gasoline TSI engine (110 hp) to a 2-liter TSI engine (190 hp) and a 2-liter TDI turbocharged diesel engine (115 or 150 hp). There is a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DSG robotic gearbox. 4Motion all-wheel drive is available in powerful versions. But the restyled SUV offers a wider range of electronic assistants, including such an option as IQ.Drive Travel Assist, operating at speeds up to 210 km/h.
