Audi A1. A little goes a long way
Audi A1 is a subcompact B-class car from the German carmaker Audi AG, belonging to the Volkswagen Group. Audi A1 has been produced since 2010, and you can buy the second generation of Hatchback 5-doors Audi A1 2018 in the Israeli market today. Audi A1 design is based on the 5th generation of a 3-door VW Polo. Therefore, it was originally a 3-door hatchback. And only at the end of 2011, a 5-door hatchback appeared.
The first generation
The first generation of Audi A1 was produced from 2010 to 2018, having gone through restyling in 2014. The first A1 looked like an Audi A4 in terms of body shape. It was decorated with a recognizable Audi Single frame radiator grille. Around its body, there was a stamping line called a tornado line. The rear lights, like the Audi Q5, were fully fitted into the trunk lid. The size of the first A1 was really small – shorter than A3 by about 25 cm. The sales of the electric car Audi A1 e-tron with a power reserve for a drive range of 50 km have started in 2011.
The second generation
The second generation of Audi A1 is produced from June 2018 to the present. All the modern Audi A1 cars are the 5-door hatchbacks; it was decided to abandon the 3-door hatchback model. The second A1 moved to a new platform, became bigger, and changed in the exterior and interior. MQB A0 modular platform, containing 27% ultra-high-strength steel, is a base for the new A1. VW Polo and Seat Ibiza have already been released on this platform. This is the platform that gave Audi A1 additional body stiffness and larger dimensions. Audi A1 2018 got front stands McPherson and a semi-adjustable H-beam on the rear axle. Optionally, the car is sold with sports suspension and adaptive shock absorbers, which can be installed both in the standard and sports trim versions.

Also, the exterior of the new Audi A1 has changed – additional windows in the rear racks of the roof were abandoned, and the rear lights, previously entirely located on the rear trunk door, have fixed sections on the wings now. The car salon has also become a little more spacious, and the new Audi A1 hatchback has virtual devices on the screen in the standard set.
