Audi Q5. No compromise
The Audi Q5 is a compact all-wheel-drive SUV produced by Audi AG (Germany) owned by Volkswagen Group. Today, Israeli market offers the second-generation Q5 launched in 2016.
First generation
The first-generation Audi Q5 was released from 2008-2017, with a restyling in 2012. The first Q5 commenced Audi compact crossover series. The Q5 was based on the same MLB platform as A4, A5, A6, A7, and even upcoming later crossover Porsche Macan. It is a concept vehicle that includes an enhanced engine and 7-speed S-Tronic transmission elaborated by Audi engineers. Quattro all-wheel drive transmits torque in the proportion 40:60 (front axle/rear axle).
The first Q5 got the highest score – 5-star safety - on the European crash-test by Euro NCAP.
After the restyling of 2012, the SUV acquired redesigned LED rear lights, a new bumper, a more powerful set of engines, and a hybrid powertrain.
Second generation
The second generation Audi Q5 has been released since 2016 till now. The base of the new Audi Q5 is the MLB EVO platform – a completely renovated version of the previous MLB platform. The New Audi platform is used for the production of sedans A4 and A5 and crossover Q7. The second generation Q5 is 90kilos lighter than the previous model. In 2017 Audi Q5 got larger and higher, and its wheelbase has also increased.
Audi Q5 2019/2020 was equipped with a new all-wheel drive system with two clutches and the function of automatic disconnect/connect of the rear axle according to the road conditions.

2020 restyling
4 years after its debut, the SUV underwent a restyling, after which it acquired a new exterior, front face and stern. Plus, now it has new bumpers (slightly more convex), while the vehicle has become 19 mm longer and equals to 4,682 mm. The manufacturer has added the OLED technology (Organic Light Emitting Diode) in the tail lights, which provides very bright and uniform light. The SUV is now equipped with 21-inch wheels (earlier, the largest wheels had a diameter of 20 inches).
The passenger compartment has practically not changed. But now the car is equipped with the next generation multimedia system, which has a 10.1-inch touch screen, and can be used to give commands. Or you can use your voice. The old MMI control unit on the central tunnel has been replaced with a compartment for small items. The standard dashboard is still analog, but for a surcharge there is a digital version with a 12.3-inch screen and a head-up display.
In Israel, the vehicle is available with a 2.0 TFSI turbocharged petrol engine producing 265 hp. With it, the SUV can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, just like a real sports car.
