The Cadillac CT4-V is an elegant premium mid-size sedan, which has been released since 2019. It was designed to compete with European models of similar class, primarily the Audi A3, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes A-Class. Compared to the original model, the CT4-V is more aimed at the skilled and loving driver than the calm entrepreneur. In Israel, the new Cadillac CT4-V is not available, and you can only find the XT4, XT5 and XT6 SUVs.

Along with the CT5-V and CT6-V, the CT4-V is part of the high-performance V-Series, which is a separate Cadillac sub-brand. It is manufactured by an automotive company located in Michigan (USA). All the ‘charged’ sedans are based on the CT4, CT5 and CT6 models. As a reminder, the new CT4 replaced the Cadillac ATS sedan (they even have the same wheelbase). Some continuity can be seen in the architecture of the glazing and the C-pillar. But the CT4 is still junior both in style (some of its details are reminiscent of the CT5 models), and in equipment.

Exterior

The new Cadillac CT4-V looks exactly like the CT4, a rather large sedan, 4.7 meters long, 1.8 meters wide, 1.4 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. It is classic, elegant and moderate, without excessive muscular elements inherent in the American vehicles.

Interior

The interior of the 2019/2020 Cadillac CT4-V is modern, ergonomic, featuring comfortable conservative buttons instead of touch-sensitive controls for climate control, radio and multimedia interfaces. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and a new 12-inch digital dashboard is available in some trim levels. There is a wireless charging pad in front of the gear selector, and the center console has a slot for a rechargeable smartphone. The vehicle is equipped with four USB ports. The vehicle also offers the latest generation of Cadillac Super Cruise (hands-free) driver assistance and the new Diamond Sky Special Edition with unique styling elements.

The sedan comes standard with:

  • LED headlights;
  • remote engine start;
  • multimedia system with 8-inch touch screen;
  • Wi-Fi 4G LTE hotspot;
  • heated and ventilated front seats;
  • heated steering wheel;
  • charging for wireless devices.

The new CT4-V is designed for the driver who mainly uses the car for daily driving. It is rear-wheel drive (but optionally all-wheel drive). Therefore, there is little space for rear passengers. The backseat is narrow, the trunk is small, and there is no storage space in the rear doors.

Engines and versions

The 2020/2021 Cadillac CT4-V is equipped with a very powerful 4-cylinder engine with 325 hp, coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In terms of power and handling, the CT4-V, even with the classic rear-wheel drive architecture, really competes with the pretentious German cars. It is fast and maneuverable, and is characterized by responsive steering. Moreover, it overcomes bumps well, while its brakes are reliable and durable. Acceleration to the first 100 km/h occurs in 5.1 seconds, and the top speed is 273 km/h.

At the end of the summer of 2021, the manufacturer released the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, a ‘supercharged’ sedan. It is distinguished by front bumpers with a more sophisticated configuration of air intakes and elongated splitters, new side skirts, vertical slots in the front fenders and large spoilers on the trunk lids. Presumably, the new CT4-V Blackwing will receive a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 479 hp and 603 Nm, as well as a 6-speed manual transmission (in America, this is a prerequisite for ‘charged’ models). But for a surcharge, you can get a 10-speed automatic transmission with magnesium gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. The 6-cylinder Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing with the automatic transmission can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while its top speed is 304 km/h.

Safety

As of 2021, state tests of the Cadillac CT4-V have not been carried out, but the sedan’s construction is solid. In addition, the car has many modern safety options, including:

  • automatic emergency braking;
  • 360-degree camera system;
  • blind spot monitoring system;
  • rear cross traffic warning;
  • lane keeping assist;
  • adaptive cruise control.
Will you choose a regular CT4, a CT4-V or a CT4-V Blackwing ‘super sedan’?
