Cadillac CT5. Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
The Cadillac CT5 is a stylish, powerful, executive sedan with the sporting nature. It has been produced since 2019. Boasting a harmonious combination of different qualities, it competes with such giants as the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, as well as with the Genesis G70. The CT5 luxury sedan is manufactured in the USA and China. It is sold in the USA, Canada, China, some countries of the Middle East, but it is not yet officially supplied to Israel. It has a ‘sporty’ Cadillac CT5-V version with a powerful engine and sporty adaptive suspension settings and a super powerful Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing with a V8 engine.
Exterior
As befits a real gentleman, the new Cadillac CT5 looks solid, impressive, but not too brutal. Unlike other American cars, the CT5 has moderately sized and smooth ribs, hood and wheel arches. Therefore, such a Cadillac can become popular among fans of European cars accustomed to flawless contours. However, the CT5 profile leaves no doubt about the 100% American origin of the car.
Engines
The 2019/2020 Cadillac CT5 comes standard with a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 237 hp. The options include a 3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 335 hp and even a twin-turbo V6 engine with 360 hp. The engines have adaptive dampers and an electronically controlled limited slip differential. The engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The standard trim level is rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive is an option. The CT5 accelerates to the first 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, as it is a bit heavy even with a 4-cylinder turbocharger… However, compared to its more dynamic competitors, the new CT5 has softer damping and a more ‘humane’ driving style, so to speak.
Interior
American premium sedans are initially richly equipped, and the Cadillac CT5 is no exception. The level of finish is traditionally inferior to Mercedes and BMW. But if you don’t try to find fault, the Cadillac will amaze you with every imaginable latest infotainment features and advanced driver assistance systems, and the interior design is simple and comfortable. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration comes standard. The list of equipment also includes a head-up display, wireless charging and Bose sound system.
Safety
The 2020/2021 Cadillac CT5 features a range of driver assistance technologies including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. There’s a super-advanced GM Super Cruise Level 2 autonomous driving feature that can steer, accelerate and brake on its own without having to keep your hands on the wheel. Simpler options include standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning system with lane keep assist, and standard adaptive cruise control.
