Chery Arrizo 8. Flagship sedan
The Chery Arrizo 8 is the new flagship sedan from Chery (China), introduced in April 2022. The car is designed in the same style as Chery SUVs, starting with the headlights and ending with the taillights. Among the interesting features are two front panel options. In China, the model is expected to compete with the Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry, which, by the way, are offered on the Israeli market (unlike the Arrizo 8). The car is ready for mass production, although not all information has been made public yet. The sedan was supposed to be officially presented at the Beijing Motor Show, but it was canceled due to a new wave of coronavirus. One way or another, the premiere of Arrizo 8 will happen one day.
Of all Chery's products, the Israeli market offers the Chery eQ5 electric SUV. The design of the vehicle was developed by the Italian company Pininfarina, so it looks very stylish and unusual. The SUV has three engines with 164, 178 or 204 hp. There are two options for traction batteries: 70 or 88 kWh. The driving range reaches 510 or 620 km.
Exterior
The new Chery Arrizo 8 is designed in the same style as Chery SUVs, starting with the headlights and ending with the taillights connected together by a thin red stripe. Also, especially for loyal fans, there are two versions of the front end: the first looks like the new Omoda 5 SUV, the second like the Tiggo 8 Plus (aka Pro). The Arrizo 8 is distinguished by an unusual head optic: a noticeable chrome strip runs across the headlights, cutting the position lights into two sections. Like the large, prestigious sedans, the side glazing is complemented by miniature windows in the rear pillars. Exterior mirrors are attached to the doors on short lugs. The sedan is built on a front-wheel drive platform and reaches a length of 4,780 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,780 mm. Exhaust pipes can be rectangular or double round.
Interior
The interior of Chery’s flagship sedan features two 12.3-inch screens on the front panel at once, combined into a single unit: a dashboard and a multimedia system screen. The driver also has an augmented reality head-up display. In addition, the interior is richly finished and decorated with woodgrain inserts. A camera eye is visible on the windscreen pillar: it is a facial recognition system with a driver fatigue control function. The car will have up to 10 airbags and electric front seats with control panels on the doors (like Mercedes-Benz models).
Powertrains
The 2022/2023 Chery Arrizo 8 will initially come with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that produces 197 hp and 290 Nm. It is mated to a 7-speed robotic gearbox with dual wet clutch. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 6.5 seconds. Additionally, there will be a 2.0-litre GDI turbo direct injection engine producing 254 hp and 390 Nm. It is also possible that in the future the model will receive a hybrid system. Considering China’s productivity, that day is not that far.
