The Toyota Camry is an E-segment car, which has been produced by Toyota (Japan) since 1982. In 2021, the manufacturer introduced a restyled version of the eighth generation sedan, which can be purchased on the Israeli market.

The eighth generation Toyota Camry, released in 2017, was created from scratch. The sedan has acquired a driver’s chassis with a lower center of gravity and a more rigid new body consisting of a large volume of high-strength steels. The eighth Camry has become longer, wider, but slightly lower than its predecessor. The McPherson strut rear suspension was replaced by a multi-link rear suspension, which improved the ratio of traveling comfort and mobility. The 4-support mount of the powertrain has allowed reducing the vibration level. The interior of the eighth generation has changed quite a lot in terms of design, geometry of fit and ergonomics in general. The driver will find themselves in the so-called cockpit, which is very functional. The front passenger has enough headroom and legroom.

Distinctive features of the 2020 restyling

At the very end of 2020, a restyled Toyota Camry was released. The sedan has a slightly changed design, a modernized interior, as well as new versions. The car features a modified front bumper, longer horizontal strips and new chrome decorative inserts on the sides. The radiator grille has changed its relief and can have two shades: black and dark gray. The front camera is now located on the center air intake grille in the front bumper. Now you can choose between 17 and 18-inch wheels with a new pattern. The taillights use new graphics. The color palette has a new body shade, called the Deep Metal Gray.

The hybrid version of the 2021 Toyota Camry features an original radiator grille, special nameplates on the body with a blue edging. Also, the car is distinguished by the black roof, exterior mirrors and glossy alloy wheels.

The new Camry has a floating 9-inch display of the new infotainment system, which can be integrated with smartphones via Apple Carplay and Android Auto services. In addition to the sensor, the system can be controlled using physical keys and switches. The central air vents have moved under the multimedia screen. There are two new perforated leather trims in beige or black.

All the trim levels of the 2020/2021 sedan come with an upgraded Toyota Safety Sense system. It includes improved collision warning and emergency braking functions. The system has learned to recognize other vehicles when turning. The lane keeping assist system and adaptive cruise control have been improved, which can now read traffic signs.

Engines

No changes have been made to the powertrains. In European countries, the new Toyota Camry comes with a hybrid system based on a 2.5-liter petrol engine, generating 178 or 218 hp. It is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The average fuel consumption equals to 7.8 liters per 100 km.
