The 2020 first generation Cupra Leon Estate
The Cupra Leon is a C-class passenger car produced since 2020 by Cupra, a sub-brand of SEAT (Spain), which is part of the VAG Group (Germany). The new Cupra Leon is the real family of ‘hot’ vehicles, comprising 5-door hatchbacks and Sportstourer estates, gasoline versions, rechargeable hybrids and electric cars, front- and all-wheel drive models. In 2021, the first generation Cupra Leon is available on the market.
Distinctive features of the 2020 estate
The 2020/2021 Cupra Leon 5-Door 5-Seater Estate has its own name - Sportstourer. This model is 4,657 mm long (longer the hatchback), 1,799 mm wide (the same), 1,437 mm high (lower than the hatchback), and has a wheelbase of 2,683 mm (the same). Its trunk volume reaches 470 liters (which is 200 liters more than the volume offered by the hatchback). The vehicle was based on the new SEAT Leon, but in contrast to it, in order to lower the center of gravity, the front bodywork of the new Cupra has become closer to the ground by 25 mm and the stern - by 20 mm. Both front and four-wheel drive versions are available.
The new Sportstourer estate combines an emotional design, a modern and practical interior, as well as the technical efficiency. It is primarily targeting young families (possibly with kids) who do not want to choose between a design and driving performance.
The estate’s exterior is similar to the hatchback, as the front and rear parts are almost identical. The Sportstourer can only be recognized in profile, while, regardless of the body type, it looks elegant, fit and harmonious.
The estate’s interior is also quite similar to the hatchback: seats with reinforced lateral supports, a sporty steering wheel with a beveled bottom with the buttons responsible for starting the engine and switching driving modes, bronze accents on the deflectors and the steering wheel. The electronic dashboard boasts improved graphics.
Modifications
The 2020/2021 Cupra Leon Estate has several modifications: gasoline and plug-in hybrid.
- Gasoline 2.0 TSI: a 2-liter turbo engine with 300 hp, a signature 7-speed DSG semi-automatic transmission with two clutches. Front-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 4.9 seconds, while the maximum speed is 250 km/h.
- Plug-in hybrid: a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, an electric motor and a 12.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The unit can can produce a maximum of 245 hp or 204 hp. The vehicle can travel up to 55-60 km in an electronic driving mode. The battery can be charged from an external network. Front-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 6.7 or 7.5 seconds, depending on the modification. The maximum speed can be 220 or 225 km/h.
