Dacia Logan MCV Stepway. Questions about the meaning of existence
The off-road estates are well known to the world. When you hear this term, you immediately remember the Subaru Outback, Audi Allroad, and Mercedes All-Terrain. The segment of affordable cars also has its ‘off-road’ representative, the Dacia Logan MCV Stepway. We decided to find out more about it. While exploring this car, we will first ask ourselves questions, and then we ourselves will answer them. Of course, your opinion is very important to us! Don’t forget to leave it at the end.
Where did it come from?
The second generation Logan MCV estate was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, while its off-road version debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. However, the Dacia Logan MCV Stepway estate is not the first all-terrain model by Dacia, but the fourth! In addition to the Sandero hatchback, there were the Dacia Lodgy and Dokker compact vans with a similar off-road body kit and increased ground clearance.
How does it differ from a standard car?
The ground clearance of the Dacia Logan MCV Stepway is 50 mm higher (205 mm), the body is decorated with plastic kicking plates and wheel arches, the bumpers feature metal inserts, while the contrasting inserts on the seats remind us of the readiness to conquer dirt roads. Well, its ‘face’ is different: the bumpers and the radiator grille are borrowed from the Sandero Stepway hatchback. The standard wheels are 16-inch.
How does it work?
The new Logan MCV Stepway was sold only in Europe, so it has the appropriate engines, including a 900 cc turbocharged petrol 3-cylinder engine with 90 hp and a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel 4-cylinder engine with the same power. The engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an Easy-R, inaccessible with a diesel engine. The car has only front-wheel drive, so as not to entice buyers from the Duster.
And why do we need it?
The estate version was created to expand the model range of the successfully sold Logan family. The Stepway is a development of the Logan MCV model, which has already managed to attract many buyers, as it offer numerous advantages, including a spacious interior, a spacious trunk (from 573 to 1,518 liters) and a modest price combined with inexpensive service. The new Logan MCV Stepway is produced only in the top-end Laureate configuration (four airbags, ABS, air conditioning, sound system and navigation, cruise control, rear parking sonars). The list of options includes leather upholstery and a rear-view camera.
