Hongqi E-HS9 electric SUV. From China to Israel
The production E-HS9 was unveiled in the fall of 2020 at the Beijing Auto Show. The vehicle is based on the Hongqi E115 concept car, which was shown at the 2019 International Motor Show in Germany (IAA) and the 2019 Guangzhou Motor Show. This SUV tops the SUV model range, which includes the compact E-HS3, midsize HS5 and full size HS7. The smallest and largest are electric vehicles.
Since the Hongqi brand is focused on the production of limousines for party officials or high-ranking foreign guests, the name is appropriate: Hongqi means "red flag" in Chinese. The Chinese brand created its first electric car in 2018, and today's opportunities have been embodied in the luxurious and huge E-HS9. And it is the first model of the brand, which can be bought in Israel.
Hongqi’s new luxury electric SUV makes a strong impression: it looks expensive and a bit like a British luxury vehicle, especially in front. The “face” is big and important, and the resemblance to the British elite car is not accidental: the former Rolls-Royce designer, Giles Taylor, has been working for FAW for more than one year. It was he who drew these horizontal stripes of headlights, the vertical “palisade” of the radiator grille, which actually symbolizes a fan, and all these aggressive sharp edges.
The SUV has inherited a branded ‘scallop’ on the hood from the previous limousines used by the presidents and Xi Jingping himself. By the way, it glows beautifully due to the diodes inside. The majestic vehicle is 5,209 mm long, 2,010 mm wide and 1,731 mm high. The wheelbase is large and equal to 3,110 mm.
The model has up to 6 seats as it has three rows, and the two options offered are as follows: the entry-level version is equipped with separate second row seats and a 2-seat third row. A more expensive version is 4-seater, featuring luxurious thrones in the second row. These magnificent seats are heated and ventilated, and feature entertainment system screens and electric footrests.
The new Hongqi E-HS9 costs from 80 to 110 thousand dollars, which makes it the most expensive SUV of the brand and the second after the L5, a super limousine for the Chinese government leaders.
