In February 2021, Kia presented a development strategy that will ensure the production of 11 new electric vehicles. All of them will appear before 2026, four will be based on current models with internal combustion engines (like the Soul EV and Niro EV), and seven vehicles, including the EV6, will be created on the E-GMP platform.

One of the anticipated new products, the Kia EV9 electric SUV concept, will be shown on November 11, 2021. As the index indicates, the EV9 will be the new flagship of the Korean brand’s battery-powered models. The vehicle will be larger than the EV6, which is 4,680 mm long and will go on sale in 2022. The Hyundai Seven concept will be introduced on November 17.

It is already known that the future Kia EV9 electric SUV shares a platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, but will receive an original body design. Both models of the Korean manufacturer will probably have three rows of seats, and 100kWh batteries will be enough for about 500 kilometers.

The E-GMP platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles, has already been used for a vehicle with a three-meter wheelbase, the Hyundai Ionic 5. The architecture allows an electric motor to be installed on each axle, for example, the Kia EV6 GT has a total output of 589 hp.
