Track Essenza: The most powerful Lamborghini

Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 2020. Bodywork, Exterior. Coupe, 1 generation

In July 2020, Lamborghini unveiled a track hypercar with the beautiful name Essenza. With its V12 engine, which is reported to generate ‘over 830 hp’, it is currently the most powerful Lambo in the history of the legendary Italian brand. The hypercar was built for the track by Squadra Corse. All of this is reflected in the name of the car with the SCV letters.

Its power-to-weight ratio is more than impressive: 1.66 hp/kg. The manufacturer plans to produce only 40 cars. Sales began in 2021. Interestingly, the Lamborghini Essenza owners will enter the ‘exclusive club’, which will offer them the highest level driving: firstly, on the ‘most prestigious tracks in the world’, and secondly, under the guidance of great pilots, including the five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro and Squadra Corse pilot Marco Mapelli who will train the owners. And for the Essenza club, there is a new hangar not far from the plant, which houses forty personal garages with special services for each car. The owner will be able to admire their beauty at any time of the day or night by looking at the webcams in the application on the smartphone.

What is a track hypercar?

The Essenza was designed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the Lamborghini Centro Stile factory design studio. It is considered the direct successor of the Miura Jota and Diablo GTR models. The model is built to meet the FIA’s requirements for racing prototypes, and this is the first GT car to be given the honor. The OMP anatomical sport seats are built on a carbon fiber frame and are FIA homologated. The carbon fiber monocoque made it possible to abandon the ugly and uncomfortable safety cage. Stefano Domenicali, the former Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini and the current CEO of Formula One Group, called the work on the hypercar “an engineering feat”.

‘The Essenza SCV12 is blessed with the purest drive Lamborghini has to offer’
Stefano Domenicali

An unusual solution: the rear double wishbone suspension is mounted directly on the new 6-speed sequential X-trac gearbox, that is, the gearbox is the power element of the chassis. The car features the different sized front and rear wheels (19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the rear), rims are made of magnesium alloy, and the brakes are produced by the famous Brembo Motorsport company. The exhaust system is supplied by Capristo Exhaust. The hypercar’s ingenious aerodynamic body kit, which uses elements from the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo and GT3 Evo modifications, creates 1,200 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, which is a stunning figure: more than a GT3 race car.

The Essenza has a multifunctional steering wheel, almost like a Formula 1 car, which controls all the main and auxiliary functions, including the adjustment of the differential, clutch, power steering, ABS and traction control, as well as radio, wiper, high beam. The interior of the hypercar is trimmed with carbon fiber combined with Alcantara. The manufacturing company has not disclosed the dimensions and price of the 2021 Lamborghini Essenza.

In your opinion, what is the most surprising thing about this hypercar?
