The Honda Civic is a compact C-class car from the Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co., produced since 1972. Today in the Israeli market you can buy the tenth generation Hatchback 5-doors Honda Civic 2015 model year.

Largely thanks to the Civic, Honda entered the list of world automakers. The Civic was the first mass-produced Japanese car. The Honda Civic is considered a mid-size car, although it competes in the compact class. The name " Civic " in English means " civil’,"public’.

The new Honda Civic was named one of the top 10 cars along with the Civic Si and Type R, and it really beats all the others and stands at the top of its class. For the past eight years, the Civic has remained the most popular model among Americans under the age of 35. And in the European market, the Honda Civic has received many awards, in particular, it was shortlisted for the prestigious European automobile competition AUTOBEST 2018.

The first generation

The first generation Honda Civic was produced from 1972 to 1979. The first Civic was a front-wheel drive two-door coupe with a 1.2-liter engine with a capacity of 50 hp. The model was originally designed with the expectation of the US market, where due to the fuel crisis, compact and economical cars were in good demand among Americans.

Largely thanks to the Civic, Honda entered the list of world automakers. The Civic was the first mass-produced Japanese car. In the European market, the Honda Civic has received many awards, in particular, it was shortlisted for the prestigious European automobile competition AUTOBEST 2018.

The small, unassuming front-wheel drive Japanese car did not stand out in any special way, but it was the Civic that became the first mass-produced Japanese car, which was talked about in Europe as a serious competitor to compact cars of European production. The suspension of the first Civic was similar to the American subcompacts of that time-Ford Pinto and Chevrolet Vega. But its low cost, reliability and unpretentiousness made the first Honda Civic a universal favorite.

The second generation

The second generation Honda Civic was produced from 1979 to 1997. First there was a hatchback, and 2 years later the company showed two more bodies: a roomy Country station wagon and a classic sedan. The second Civic was slightly larger in size and received new, more powerful engines, a new transmission and increased efficiency.

The third generation

The third generation Honda Civic was produced from 1983 to 1987. The third Civic received a new version of the Civic Si. The car has changed not only the shape, but also the content: its wheelbase has increased, making the 4-door model of the Civic closer to the Accord. The Honda Civic 3 generation has become popular thanks to technologies skillfully borrowed by the Japanese from motorsport, namely: an elongated wheelbase and a productive engine. And in 1985, the Civic received all-wheel drive for the first time. They were equipped with a version in the wagon body.

The fourth generation

The fourth generation Honda Civic was produced from 1987 to 1992. In addition to the hatchbacks, the fourth generation also featured the tall Shuttle station wagon and the CR-X coupe. All four Civics received a new 16-valve Hyper engine, which was supported by independent suspension, on twin parallel A-arms and all-wheel drive. In 1989, Honda introduced a variation of the Civic sir, equipped with a high-performance DOHC engine with variable valve timing technology.

The fifth generation

The fifth generation Honda Civic was produced from 1991 to 1997 and was marked by the fact that the ten-millionth Honda Civic car came off the assembly line. The fifth Civic received a bright and unusual appearance. The aerodynamic and futuristic body shape with a rather voluminous and spacious interior met all the requirements of young buyers of this car. The dimensions of the 5th Honda Civic increased, and the weight decreased, it again received a new, economical and extremely hardy engine. The fifth generation Honda Civic was distinguished by a special loyalty to the preservation of the environment and reliable safety systems.

The sixth generation

The sixth generation Honda Civic was produced from 1995 to 2002. The sixth Civic was the first production car to meet the very strict environmental requirements of LEV (Low Emission Vehicle), which are also called ‘California standards’. The sixth-generation Honda Civic could be a three-door hatchback, coupe, sedan, and Aero Deck station wagon. Its production was established in three countries: in Japan, three-door hatchbacks and sedans were produced, in England - station wagons, in the United States - Civics with a coupe body.

Seventh generation

The seventh-generation Honda Civic was produced from 2000 to 2008, going through a facelift in 2003. The seventh Civic retained similar body dimensions, but its interior space was significantly increased. One of the features of the cabin of the seventh Civic was the smooth surface of the rear floor, providing comfort for passengers in the rear seats. Thanks to this feature, the Civic began to compete with cars in the higher segment, but at a lower cost. Along with the updated design, the seventh-generation Honda Civic received a completely new Mcpherson-type suspension and a new engine. In the seventh generation, the first hybrid version of the Civic appeared.

The eighth generation

The eighth-generation Honda Civic was produced from 2005 to 2015, going through a facelift in 2008. The eighth Civic received a defiant design and a futuristic dashboard. For the first time in history, Honda introduced the Civic in two completely different concepts-the sedan and hatchback were radically different from each other both in body and interior, and in suspension.

Ninth generation

The ninth-generation Honda Civic was produced from 2011 to 2017, having gone through a restyling in 2014. The ninth-generation Civic received a new all-metal grille, smoothly passing to the lights, decorated with a chrome Honda nameplate. The ninth Civic was the first Honda car to use Eco Assist technology, which helps the driver choose a more economical driving style.

The new Honda Civic has won dozens of international industry awards, including the title of ‘Best North American Car of the Year 2016’, entered the top ten of the ‘Car and Driver 2018’ and ‘All-Star Car’ awards.

Tenth generation

The tenth generation Honda Civic is produced from 2015 to the present. The 2019 Honda Civic embodies the excellence of compact cars, combining practicality and personality. The new Honda Civic has received an improved finish, a new sporty exterior and a unique Honda Sensing safety package, which is installed by default and allows the driver and passengers to get the highest level of safety.

The interior of the 2019/2020 Honda Civic also received a lot of new features that were not present in previous generations. The updated version has absorbed the best qualities that are so appreciated by Honda owners. Total sales of the 10th generation have already exceeded 1 million copies. Since its premiere, the 10th generation Civic has won dozens of international industry awards, including the title of ‘Best North American Car of 2016’, entered the top ten of the ‘Car and Driver 2018’ and ‘AUTOMOBILE All-Stars’ awards.
