Lexus RX. Audacious design and advanced technologies
Lexus RX is a mid-range crossover from Lexus - a luxury brand and a unit of the Toyota Motor Corporation, produced since 1997. It can be either FWD or 4WD. The hybrid version is available. As of 2020, the fourth generation of the restyled SUV 5-doors Lexus RX 2019 has been available.
First generation
The first generation Lexus RX was produced from 1997 to 2003. The first RX was based on the design of the ES300 sedan of the lower, but luxury class. The crossover was equipped with a 3-L V6 motor rated at 220 hp and a 4-speed automatic transmission. After a slight restyling in 2002, the first-generation Lexus RX has got new optics and a navigation system. The Japanese crossover sold well in the US market. As of 1998, a total of 48,000 cars were sold.
Second generation
The second-generation Lexus RX was produced from 2003 to 2009 and restyled in 2006. The RX of second generation received a number of changes: it became larger, received a more spacious interior, the interior trim was made of more expensive materials, but at the same time, the crossover has lost some of its off-road capacity. Depending on the configuration, the running gear of the second Lexus RX could be equipped with pneumatic elements, putting the suspension in one of five positions - with maximum, medium, and minimum clearance, available to change manually, as well as a mode of comfortable landing and automatic lowering clearance for driving on the highway. In 2005, the first hybrid version of the RX400h appeared, with a 211-hp gasoline-electric unit. The Lexus RX400h was the world’s first premium hybrid crossover. As a result of the 2007 restyling, the second RX received a new grille, chrome door handles, and 18-inch wheels.

Third generation
The third generation of Lexus RX was produced from 2008 to 2015 and restyled in 2012. The third RX 350 had a 3.5-L V6 engine of 275 hp. The third-generation Lexus RX is considered one of the safest crossovers of the American market. After the restyling in 2012, the crossover received new wheel discs, modernized optics, new grille, and new interior colors.
Fourth generation
The fourth-generation Lexus RX has been produced since 2015 until now, it was restyled in 2019. The fourth-generation RX has improved significantly if compared to its predecessor! The crossover has received a brighter design and an upgraded engine. The new Lexus RX is equipped with a 3.5-L V-shaped 6-cylinder engine rated at 300 hp and an 8-speed automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, all engines now consume less fuel and have low CO2 emissions.

Dot laser-beam welding was widely used in the RX bodywork assembly. Due to stiffer anti-roll bars and increased hub stiffness, the car is more responsive to the steering wheel.
The Lexus RX 2020/2021 has a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display. And the traditional joystick has been replaced by a newly designed touch-screen control panel. Mobile devices have been significantly expanded with support for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration platforms.
