2019 Mercedes CLA Sedan. 2nd generation
Mercedes CLA is a series of compact prestigious passenger cars produced by Mercedes-Benz (Germany) since 2013. It is available in sedan or estate bodies. In 2020, Israeli buyers could purchase the second generation of the 2018 Mercedes CLS AMG coupe.
The 2019 4-door sedan has 5 seats. It is 4,688 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2,729 mm. The trunk volume is 460 liters.
Distinctive features
The new Mercedes CLA 2019/2020 has frameless doors, a retractable roof, and a coupe-like silhouette. A low center of gravity and a sway bar, a hydro mount subframe that dampens excessive vibration and adaptive shock strut testify to its sporty character. The traffic sign recognition system can recognize the space for half a kilometer. Compared to the first generation, the 2020 CLA sedan looks more solid, but at the same time, more compact. It has a sporty exterior, an aerodynamic body and an elongated hood. The front face slopes noticeably downward, which is not only stylish but also has a positive effect on aerodynamics. The hood cover with several longitudinal protuberances smoothly flows into a noticeable air intake, which only sets off the predatory narrowed xenon optics and wheel arches with stylish and large discs. The new CLA is a true work of art in the GT style.
Modifications
In Israel, the new Mercedes CLA comes in front-wheel drive version and is equipped with three petrol engines to choose from. All of them are turbocharged and coupled with 7-speed semi-automatic transmission. The 1.3-liter engines produce 136 and 163 hp and a 2-liter engine can provide 224 hp. The top speed is 216, 229, and 250 km/h. The less powerful engines accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds, whereas the most powerful engine will accelerate in 6.3 seconds.
There is also a 250 e rechargeable hybrid version equipped with a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine and a 15.6 kWh battery. The aggregate capacity of the power train amounts to 218 hp or 160 kW. The drive range is 60 km. It takes 120 minutes to fully charge a car at a gas station. According to the assurances of manufacturers, the fuel consumption is only 1.4 liters per 100 km. The hybrid accelerates to 100 km in 6.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 240 km/h.
Trim levels
They depend on the modification. The CLA 200 163 Gas is fitted with the AMG Line. The CLA 180 136 Gas has three trim levels to choose from: slightly more modest Coupe Edition, and two more advanced Progressive and AMG Line. The most powerful model, CLA 250 224 Gas, is only equipped with the AMG Line package. All trim levels have a sunroof and panoramic roof, decorative interior lighting, faux leather interior, and LED headlights.
All models are equipped with central locking and immobilizer, no less than six airbags, backup camera, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition system, collision avoidance system, and ESP system. The advanced versions of the 2020 CLA sedan, Progressive and AMG Line, will additionally have front and back parking sensors with automatic parking.
The list of basic options for the 2020/2021 Mercedes CLA includes a multimedia system controlled via smartphone, Bluetooth and USB, as well as Android Auto and Carplay functions (advanced versions), audio system, active power steering, dual-zone climate control, a multifunction steering wheel, paddle shifters, engine start/stop button, keyless access, an expanded power pack.
