Peugeot 5008 SUV. The second generation. Released since 2016

Peugeot 5008 is a vehicle produced by the French automobile maker, Peugeot, since 2009 to the present. It was originally a 5- or 7-seater compact van. The modern Peugeot 5008 is a real SUV. In 2020, Israeli buyers could purchase the 2016 second generation Peugeot 5008 5-Door SUV.

The new 5008 is a front-wheel drive SUV produced by Peugeot since September 2016. Built on a fundamentally different platform, the new 5008 is currently the most advanced and ultra-modern model offered by PSA. At the same time, the 2016/2017 Peugeot 5008 is similar to the second generation Peugeot 3008, literally like an older and younger brother. The second generation Peugeot 5008 can be both 5- and 7-seater. In Israel, it comes with a trunk that has the maximum capacity of 1,940 liters with the rear row seats folded. It’s worth noting that this is a very impressive volume!

Distinctive features

It does not matter what trim version you will choose, the new Peugeot 5008 will always offer you a new architecture of the Peugeot i-Cockpit interior with a digital display, a small original steering wheel and a high dashboard, premium materials, interior lighting, signature lion ‘teeth’ on the headlights and LED ‘claws’ on the rear, panoramic roof, body structure optimized for better shock absorption, at least six airbags, anti-lock ABS and traction control ASR systems, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), brake assist systems (BAS, EBD, EBA), parking assist cameras, and state-of-the-art driving assistance systems.

Modifications

Israeli buyers can choose from the petrol and diesel engine versions of the 2019/2020 Peugeot 5008. All of them are turbocharged. There are a 1.2-liter petrol engine with 130 hp and a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 180 hp. There are a 1.5-liter BLUE HDI diesel engine with 130 hp and a 2-liter engine with 177 hp. All of them are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter diesel engine is, perhaps, the most fuel-efficient engine, as its average fuel consumption is only 4 liters per 100 km, and even less on the highway - 3.9 liters. And the 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine is the fastest one, allowing the Peugeot 5008 to reach a top speed of 220 km/h and accelerate to 100 km in 8.3 seconds.

Trim versions

The French have prepared 3 trim versions of the 2020 Peugeot 5008 for their Israeli buyers: Active, GT and Premium. As for the difference between them in simple terms: simpler, more athletic/tougher and more expensive. But even the ‘simplest’ Active trim has a lane control system, driver fatigue sensor, hill start assist (HSA), collision avoidance system and traffic sign recognition system, automatic switching between high and low beam, manoeuvring aids and parking, 2-zone climate control, rain sensors, lights and much, much more!

The 2020 Peugeot 5008 SUV will only be offered as a front-wheel drive vehicle. As a replacement for the 4×4 system, the second generation is equipped with the Advanced Grip Control system. According to the manufacturer, the combination of high ground clearance and this system ensures good cross-country ability for the car on any off-road. So, that’s what this vehicle is about: French style combined with a lion’s character!
