Gasoline and spare parts are becoming more expensive
From November 1, 2021, the gasoline price will rise in Israel. According to the Ministry of Energy, the cost of 1 liter of 95 octane gasoline will increase by 20 agorot to 6.59 shekels per liter. According to some estimates, this is the highest price in the last three years. Over the past year, the gasoline price has increased by 1 shekel and 13 agorot per liter. The main reason for the rise in gasoline prices was the sharp rise in oil prices on world markets.
Moreover, there is another bad news. Car tires and batteries have gone up by 10% -20%. All heavy parts that require significant shipping and storage costs are expected to become more expensive. In the near future, the cost of lightweight parts will also increase when the stocks made by importers begin to run out. The rise in prices for spare parts is directly related to the rise in the cost of sea freight and a decrease in production of vehicles.
But there is some good news. Debtors will no longer lose their driver’s license. And today we have 180 thousand Israelis deprived of their driving licenses for debts. The driving license revocation significantly reduces the debtor’s ability to get a job and pay off debts.
A new bill, which will almost completely abolish the practice of driving license revocation due to non-payment of debts, is being prepared by Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar. According to our information, the bill removes the ability of the Center for collection of fines and the Institution of bailiffs to restrict the debtor from obtaining, owning or renewing a driving license. An exception will be alimony debts and criminal injuries compensation debts.
