The 2016 second generation Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a prestigious compact D-class car produced by Alfa Romeo (Italy) since 1962. The modern model, first presented in June 2015, for the company’s 105th anniversary, could be bought since 2016. In 2020, Israeli buyers could purchase the second generation sedan.
The 2016/2017 4-door 5-seater sedan has a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. The sedan is 4,643 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,436 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. The sedan’s wheelbase makes it one of the most spacious models in its class, which will make its owners very happy. The volume of the trunk compartment is 480 liters.
Exterior
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia looks aggressive and modern. The front face of the car features a hood with massive recesses and embossed lines, the narrow LED headlights, and a signature triangular radiator grille with a chrome edging. Aside from looking good, the massive bumper ensures good aerodynamic performance. The bumper also has large air intakes to cool the engine compartment and brake discs. At the rear, the cat has the slightly rounded trunk lid and a carbon fiber spoiler, as well as stylish and formidable taillights. The bumper attracts the most attention, as it is quite large and has a huge diffuser at the bottom. It houses 2 large exhaust pipes on each side. Everything looks great together!
Interior
The new 2019/2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan is equipped with front sports seats, which are made entirely of carbon at the rear, while their front part is finished with leather and Alcantara. Lateral support is excellent, plus there is plenty of free space. The rear row, created for three passengers, is also trimmed with leather and Alcantara. For rear passengers, there are two air deflectors in the middle. The Alcantara and leather wrapped steering wheel is also sporty, 3-spoke and is made of carbon fiber. The steering wheel is equipped with buttons to control the multimedia system. The dashboard looks sporty and encourages an aggressive driving style. It consists of two huge analog speedometer and tachometer sensors, with a 7-inch highly functional on-board computer located between these sensors. The center console is slightly turned towards the driver, which improves ergonomics. The upper part is equipped with an 8.4 inch touchscreen display of the multimedia system. The screen displays a lot of useful information about the car.
Modifications
In Israel, the 2019/2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia is available with three turbocharged petrol engine options. The are 2-liter engines producing 200 and 280 hp, and one 2.9-liter V6 engine, producing 510 hp and 612 Nm of torque. All of them are complemented by an 8-speed automatic transmission. The two ‘less fancy’ engines provide a maximum speed of 235-240 km/h, and a powerful V6 makes it possible to accelerate to 307 km/h! Acceleration from 0 to 100 km occurs in 3.9 seconds.
Trim levels
All the Giulia’s modifications equipped with 2-liter engines are available in 4 trim levels: Veloce, TI, Monza (all of them have a panoramic roof) and Sport. The model with a powerful 2.9 liter V6 engine comes in STANDART trim with an extended list of options, active suspension, body kit, tinted glass, front sports seats, pedal pads and kicking plates, Alcantara interior trim and R19 wheels.
Regardless of the trim level, the basic equipment of the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2020 includes at least five airbags, central locking, a front-mounted and rear-mounted child seat attachment system, a rear camera (except for the Sport trim), cruise control or its adaptive version, a driving mode selection system, front and rear parking sensors (the Sport trim can offer only rear sensors), a large number of electronic assistants and safety systems, which, in addition to ABS and ESP, include a brake assist system and collision avoidance system, traction control system and an uphill start assist. Plus, the car is equipped with a blind spot monitoring system, a lane departure warning system, driver fatigue sensors (except for the Sport trim), as well as a traffic sign recognition system (in almost all versions).
Among other things, the 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia can offer a modern Carplay multimedia system, advanced power accessories for adjustments and heating systems, including electric folding mirrors, one- or dual-zone climate control, an active power steering, a cooled glove box, and a multifunction steering wheel. Almost all trim levels have a push button start feature, keyless access and the fuel-saving start-stop system.
