2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country Estate. 2nd generation

Volvo V60 Cross Country 2019. Bodywork, Exterior. Estate 5-door, 2 generation

The Volvo V60 Cross Country is an all-wheel drive mid-size all-terrain estate that can offer all the possible advantages, except perhaps for an affordable price. The car belongs to the luxury segment, so this is not surprising. In 2019, the second generation estate, currently available in Israel, was released (as of 2021).

The new Volvo V60 Cross Country is an excellent alternative to an SUV! This is not a joke or exaggeration, as this car offers a 529-liter trunk, 210 mm ground clearance and the fuel consumption of 7.8 liters per 100 km. So, even some SUVs will envy this estate. And you definitely don’t need to worry about its safety. In November 2020, Volvo Cars chose several of its different models and dropped them to the ground, lifting them with a crane to a height of 30 meters. Just like that, forcing the front end to face the ground, which can be considered as a very severe imitation of a head-on collision. Such an extreme crash test was carried out only so that rescuers could train in conditions close to real ones.

You can see Volvo’s signature style in the noble, elegant exterior of the 2019/2020 V60 Cross Country. One of the main things that make the model recognizable is the Thor’s Hammer LED headlights. The new generation car features a characteristic radiator grille, upgraded logo design and large letters ‘V o l v o’ on the trunk lid. The estate is built on a modular SPA platform. It is 4,784 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,499 mm high. The wheelbase reaches 2,874 mm and the trunk volume ranges from 529 to 1,441 liters with the backseat folded down. The Cross Country’s ground clearance is 210mm, which is 75mm more than the original V60. Like its predecessor, the car hints at its readiness for adventures outside the city by the presence of a protective plastic body kit.

Powertrains

The new Volvo V60 Cross Country estate is equipped with 2-liter petrol 4-cylinder engines. Thanks to turbocharging and direct injection, the engine develops 250 hp and is supplemented by a 13-horsepower electric motor, which helps the car at low speeds and reduces fuel consumption. The cars destined for Israel are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive only. The estate has an Off-Road mode in the drive electronics settings, which transfers more power to the rear wheels, turns the hill descent control on, makes the steering wheel lighter and the throttle response smoother. The petrol version accelerates in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h. There is also a rechargeable hybrid with 303 hp, providing acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with the maximum speed being limited to 180 km/h.

Equipment

The basic equipment includes: a Park Assist camera, front and rear parking radar, an automatic braking system with pedestrian, cyclist and animal recognition, an automatic braking system detecting side obstacles at the crossroads, a semi-autonomous Pilot Assist system that works on roads with distinguishable markings and helps driving within the lane, preventing the lane departure.

From May 1, 2020, the following options have been added to the standard equipment of all Volvo models, including the V60 Cross Country: 12.3-inch graphic dashboard, traffic sign recognition system, side exterior mirrors and a self-dimming rearview mirror. For safety reasons, the speed of all Volvo cars has been electronically limited up to 180 km/h. The list of equipment also includes the Clean Air system, dual-zone electronic climate control, driver’s memory power seat, whiplash protection for front seat passengers and much more.
