The new Kia Niro is already in Israel
The second generation Kia Niro was introduced in Europe in the spring of 2022. We have already admired its eucalyptus seats, wallpaper ceiling, and green zone driving mode. But the most important thing is that the novelty, which is equipped with hybrid and electric powertrains, is now offered on our market. We are happy to announce that the new Kia Niro has arrived in Israel! The start of sales was announced by Talkar, an importer of Kia models in Israel. The price for the entry-level version starts from 184,900 shekels.
The new 2023 Kia Niro in Israel will be initially offered in two versions: a plug-in hybrid with an electric driving range of up to 61 km and an electric model with a driving range of up to 460 km. The regular hybrid version will arrive in the second quarter of 2023.
The SUV offers a 5-year or up to 100,000 km warranty. The battery warranty covers 5 years for the plug-in model or 7 years for the electric model, up to 150,000 km.
Kia Niro PHEV plug-in hybrid. The hybrid system is based on a 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection engine with 105 hp and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed duel-clutch robotic gearbox, devoid of reverse gear, the reverse movement is carried out by an electric motor. The power of the electric motor has increased compared to the first generation from 61 to 84 hp, and the peak output of the entire system has increased from 141 to 183 hp. The capacity of the traction battery is now equal to 11.1 kWh, which has increased the electric range from 49 to 65 km (according to the WLTP cycle). It takes just over 3 hours to charge from the mains (the battery level equals to 20%). The price for the 2023 Kia Niro PHEV is 184,900 shekels.
Kia Niro EV. It is driven by an electric motor with 204 hp and a battery with 64.8 kWh. The promised driving range is 463 km (WLTP cycle). Other improvements include the vehicle’s ability to power external consumers up to 3 kW. Moreover, the model offers a tiny front trunk of 20 liters. The price for the 2023 Kia Niro EV is 199,900 shekels.
One of the major advantages is the volume of the main trunk, which reaches 348 liters for PHEV modifications and 475 liters for electric models, which is more than the volumes offered by the first generation Kia Niro. Moreover, the second generation offers better dynamics. The PHEV version now accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds, while the new EV does it in 7.8 seconds, just like the first generation electric version.
Israeli cars will receive good equipment, especially the electric version. The 2023 Kia Niro PHEV will have 18-inch wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a digital rear-view mirror, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging for gadgets, light and rain sensors, a rear parking sensor and a rear-view camera. The 2023 Kia Niro EV boasts a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, front and rear parking sensors, full LED headlights and more.
The new Kia Niro is one of the finalists of the European Car of the Year 2022 competition, taking an honorable 4th place. If you want to find out more about other participants and winners, click here.
