The Volkswagen Passat is a mid-size D-class car from the German automaker Volkswagen, which has been produced since 1973 and has already had 8 generations. In 2020, it was possible to purchase a Volkswagen Passat sedan in the restyled version of 2019 on the Israeli market.
The 4-door 5-seat Sedan Volkswagen Passat has dimensions: in length-4775 mm, in width-1832 mm, with a wheelbase-2786 mm. The volume of the luggage compartment is 586 liters.
Distinctive features
The eighth Passat is built on the new Volkswagen - MQB platform. It has a wide variety of engines, including diesel and hybrid. The Passat 8 is probably the most stylish car of all the generations of this model. Fashionable and aggressive, but it clearly traces the family traits. Sedan Volkswagen Passat 2019/2020 received an adaptive digital instrument cluster, a pedestrian monitoring system, a projector on the windshield and a long list of electronic assistants.
Updated in 2019, the Volkswagen Passat received a slightly modified design and new equipment. Updated optics, bumpers and front grille, although they all generally retained the same style. The new headlights are able to automatically adjust the flow of light and follow the road. The interior of the updated sedan has been largely reconstructed. In the cabin - a new steering wheel and the missing analog clock from the center of the front console: now in their place there is a button ‘accidents’ and an inscription with the name of the model. The developers have reduced the diagonal of the digital dashboard, but increased its resolution, brightness and contrast. And the main new thing in the cabin, the Germans call the multimedia system MIB 3 (Modular Infotainment Matrix 3). Depending on the version, it is equipped with a touch screen with different diagonals. MIB3 received a built-in SIM card, thanks to which it can always stay connected and distribute the Internet in the access point mode. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported.
Modifications
The 2019/2020 Volkswagen Passat is delivered to Israel in front-wheel drive with two petrol engines to choose from: a 1.5-liter 150 hp and a 2-liter 190 hp with and without turbocharging. Depending on the modification, the sedan can accelerate to 220 - 238 km/h. And fuel consumption-from 5.3 to 6.3 liters per 100 km, on average. It can be supplemented with both a 6-and 7-speed robotic transmission (only for a 2-liter turbo engine).
Configuration options
Israeli buyers of the Volkswagen Passat 2019/2020 are available in 3 trim levels: Elegance, Business and Business Plus. All three have pretty good basic equipment: almost a full package of airbags, except for window ones, an all-round camera, adaptive cruise control, a decent set of electronic assistants, including blind spot monitoring and lane control, a driver fatigue sensor, a braking assistance system and a collision avoidance system.
In terms of comfort, the Passat Elegance surpasses all other options, but in all three options will be present: electric adjustment of the front seats with driver’s seat memory, massage in the front seats, 3-zone climate control, rear and front parking sensors, electric mirrors, diode headlights and adaptive lighting system. The Elegance and Business Plus trim levels will include a leather interior, heated front seats and a panoramic roof.
