Aston Martin DBS is a ‘Gran Turismo’ class supercar, which has been produced since 1967 by the British company Aston Martin in ‘coupe’ and ‘convertible’ bodies. You could buy the third generation of this unique car of the 2018 model year in Israel in 2020.

The new DBS received a prefix to the name, and now has the proud name DBS Superleggera. The name ‘Superleggera’ means ‘Ultra Light’ and refers to the DB4 Superleggera of the 60s, which was created in conjunction with the Italian body studio Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. It was significantly lighter than a regular DB4 due to aluminum body panels. The current model received a mostly aluminum body, covered with CFRP panels, which allowed to carve out more than 70 kg compared to the DB11. The new DBS weighs just 1,693 kg and is very, very light by the standards of a modern GT coupe (and with the V12 engine under the hood).

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 2018/2019 model year is a 2-door 4-seater car with rear wheel drive in a coupe body. Its dimensions are 4712 mm long, 1968 mm wide, wheelbase is 2805 mm.

Distinctive features

The new DBS Superleggera incorporates the very best that British and Italian design schools have to offer. It seems simple on the outside, but very interesting and inventive in details. It is expressive, but at the same time visually light, with a lean stern and a diffuser stretching to the ground, with predatory slots on the hood and a side line flying away into infinity. Today, perhaps, it is difficult to find a more beautiful car. Beautiful stitching, laconic lines, sports steering wheel attract attention in the cabin. It is a combination of hi-tech and classics.

The GT class is about comfort, as well as quickly covering distances on the autobahns or serpentines off the coast. The Superleggera has no problem with this because its 5.2-liter V12 develops 725 horsepower and 900 Nm, and the peak torque of the twin-turbo engine is available in the range from 1800 to 5000 rpm. The front suspension has double wishbones, the multi-link rear suspension has several stiffnesses presets. The 2019/2020 DBS Superleggera features a mechanical limited-slip differential as well as carbon-ceramic brakes, which Aston Martin ranks as the best in the world. The new aerodynamic body kit generates 180 kg of downforce. It is a lot more than the DB11.
