TOP 10 most powerful electric supercars
What’s the first car that comes to mind when you think of a truly powerful electric supercar? Of course, the Tesla Model S Plaid with its 1,115 hp 3-motor powertrain, a maximum speed of 320 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.99 seconds. But Tesla isn’t the only brand making powerful electric cars. Certainly, it is almost the only one that manufactures them in series, in large quantities and makes them quite accessible for some people. And yet, there are other manufacturers involved in the production new amazing models, which you know nothing about. That’s why we have decided to compile a list of the top 10 most powerful electric supercars, the maximum power of which may surprise even connoisseurs. Don’t forget to choose your favorite car below!
And here we have compiled the rating of the coolest electric cars, which are not only powerful and technically advanced, but, what is much more important, they are mass-produced, sold and fairly affordable. Unlike the ones listed below that cost over a million dollar.
10. Tesla Model S Plaid – 1,020 hp
Today, the Tesla Model S Plaid, a high-performance version of the flagship electric sedan Model S, is the fastest electric car in the company’s history. During the presentation, Elon Musk said that finally there was such a “production car that is faster than any sports car, faster than any Porsche, safer than any Volvo… It feels like we”re driving into the future’. The total power of the three electric motors is 1,020 hp. The maximum speed is 320 km/h. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds. The electric liftback consistently earns 5 stars in NHTSA crash tests and is confidently ranked among the world’s top ten most popular electric vehicles.
9. Lucid Air — 1,080 hp
In the fall of 2020, the American company Lucid Motors presented the Air electric sedan, built on its own platform. The top-end version, the Lucid Air Dream Edition, is all-wheel drive, equipped with motors with a total power of 1,080 hp and a battery with a capacity of 113 kWh. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and is able to travel up to 832 km without recharging (which is more than the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus, which has long held the record for electric cars standard with a range of 663 km). The maximum speed is 270 km/h. However, on the highway, a special version with the deactivated speed limiter reaches 376 km/h… The cost of the Lucid Air Dream Edition starts at 160,000 dollars. In addition, it should be added that the manufacturer has already presented the new Lucid Air Sapphire, the flagship version of the Air sedan, which is expected in 2023. The world’s most powerful production electric sedan received 3 motors with 1,200 hp, but its quantity will be limited and the price starts at from 249,000 dollars.
8. Hispano Suiza Carmen — 1,114 hp
It is the original creation of a Spanish company that has not appeared on the market for 70 years… And when it appeared, it was able to surprise everyone. In 2019, the Geneva Motor Show saw the Hispano Suiza, a unique electric car named after the founder’s granddaughter, Carmen. The Spanish electric hypercar has a capacity of 1,114 hp and torque of 1,600 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, while the maximum speed is limited to around 250 km/h, and the driving range is 400 km. The exclusive sports car is produced by hand, in quantities of only 5 units, and all cars are for selected collectors. The cost of a car is almost 2 million dollars.
7. Drako GTE – 1,200 hp
The supercar with an electric powertrain, the first model of Drako Motors, was created for nearly 10 years and was unveiled in 2019. Engineers wanted to design a driver-focused supercar that delivers incredible performance with maximum control and safety on the road and on the track. And it seems that the company has succeeded in carrying out this plan. The total power of the 4-motor powertrain is 1,200 hp. Each motor is designed for its own wheel. The total torque is 8,880 Nm. The maximum speed is 332 km/h. Each car (only 25 examples) costs around 1.25 million dollars. But in just a few years, we are promised a second model, a coupe-like SUV, the Drako Dragon with four electric motors producing 2,026 hp!
6. Nio EP9 – 1,360 hp
It would seem that this experimental prototype (the letters ‘EP’ stand for ‘Experimental Prototype’) should not be included in our ranking. But today 16 units have already been sold, so we count it as a production car. The power of the all-wheel drive supercar is 1,360 hp, the torque is 1,092 Nm, the maximum speed is 312 km, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 2.7 seconds. The range is 300 km. The Nio EP9 has already set a new Nürburgring lap record for a production car with a lap time of 6 minutes and 45.9 seconds (the previous record was 6 minutes and 48 seconds). The company plans to release 20 more units, each costing from 1.5 million dollars. By the way, in the very near future the Chinese company NIO will supply its electric vehicles ET7, ET5 and EL7 to Europe.
5. Dendrobium D-1 – 1,800 hp
Another supercar, either a concept or a future production electric car. It debuted in 2018. The manufacturer plans to produce it in the UK, however, exact launch dates, as well as cost, have not been announced. Thanks to the hinged doors and the original roof opening system, the Dendrobium D-1 looks like a flower with the name Dendrobium (hence the name of the electric car). Interestingly, the design of the car was created by an unknown artist in 1996 (although it was finalized later). The closeness to nature is also indicated by the headlights, reminiscent of a waterfall, and the rear lights, in the shape of a honeycomb. The power of the electric supercar is 1,800 hp, and the torque is 1,475 Nm. The maximum speed is 321 km/h. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
4. Pininfarina Battista – 1,900 hp
The Italian body studio Pininfarina and its original design solutions have already become legendary. However, the famous coachbuilder has designed more than a beautiful hypercar. The Pininfarina Battista is Pininfarina’s first electric car, which made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2021. It received an all-electric drivetrain, producing 1,900 hp and 1,696 Nm. The supercar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds and has a top speed of 350 km/h. Its driving range is 450 km. In addition, it is a production car, which is already delivered to customers. The estimated cost starts at 2.5 million dollars.
3. Rimac Nevera – 1,914 hp
The Rimac Nevera is an all-electric 2-door coupé, the fastest electric hypercar in the world and the first real production model of the Croatian company Rimac, which debuted in June 2021. Even its name is explicit: the name ‘Nevera’ is a hurricane coming from Italy in the Adriatic native for the owner of the company, Mate Rimac. With four electric motors with a total output of 1,914 hp and a torque of 2,360 Nm, the Nevera accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds, reaching a top speed of 412 km/h, a record world of speed for series-produced electric vehicles. The range is at least 550 km (within the WLTP cycle), which is provided by a battery with a capacity of 120 kWh. A total of 150 such cars will be assembled and all will be personally tested and signed by Mate Rimac. The price of the hypercar is 2 million euros.
2. Lotus Evija – 2,000 hp
The Lotus Evija is an electric hypercar introduced as a coupe in 2020, the first production car with a capacity of 2,000 hp. It is also the first Lotus-branded model with an electrified powertrain and the first all-new car produced under Chinese brand Geely, the world’s fastest-growing automotive group. With a mass of 1,680 kg, the Evija is also the lightest electric hypercar of our time. Each wheel has its own 500 horsepower electric motor. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, while the top speed is 320 km/h. The range is 345 km within the WLTP cycle. The series includes only 130 units.
1. Aspark Owl — 2,012 hp
The Lotus Evija was the most powerful production car in the world until the arrival of Japan’s infernal owl, the 2,012 hp Aspark Owl megacar. You’ve probably never heard of it, which is not surprising: the car was presented at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it was mass-produced for quite a long time, becoming available for purchase only in 2021. The electric hypercar produces 2,012 hp and 2,000 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to a fantastic mark of 400 km /h and the declared driving range is 450 km. However, its quantity is very limited: it is planned to assemble only 50 cars for Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, and the cost of each starts from 3.56 million dollars. But those lucky enough to grab such succulent morsel will receive the fastest car in the world.
