Peugeot 3008 SUV. 2nd generation, 2020 restyling
The Peugeot 3008 is a compact front-wheel drive SUV. In 2021, Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase the second generation SUV after the restyling that took place in 2020. To make the vehicle look relevant and fresh, Peugeot has applied the latest corporate style principles to its design. And now the 3008 looks like a saber-toothed tiger (or is it some French lion?)…
Exterior and interior
The new ‘face’ has turned out to be amusingly aggressive, starting from the headlights featuring the stripes resembling the fangs of a walrus (or a tiger?) at their bottom. Such a saber-toothed image is complemented by an unusual redesigned radiator grille, which seems to have blurred borders, and a new bumper. The fog lights have disappeared and have been replaced by a special mode of the main optics, which turns on simultaneously with the rear fog lights. The hood now sports 4 numbers, the model index, in compliance with the latest French brand trends. The rear end features new lighting graphics and a different tailpipe design. The vehicle has acquired redesigned wheels.
The 2020/2021 Peugeot 3008 still has a very bold interior design, boasting the center display with a larger diagonal (10 inches instead of 8). The vehicle has acquired new finishing materials, a frameless rearview mirror and two USB connectors in the second row.
Powertrains
In Europe and Israel, the new Peugeot 3008 comes with 1.2-liter (130 hp) and 1.6-liter (180 hp) turbocharged petrol engines, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel (130 hp). After restyling, the 2-liter diesel modification (180 hp) is no longer available. The SUV is front-wheel drive only and is equipped with an automatic 8-speed transmission.
Both hybrid versions with 1.6-liter petrol four-cylinder engines are still available. The power of petrol units is 180 or 200 hp. The HYBRID4 300 e-EAT8 version has a pair of electric motors (110 and 112 hp on the front and rear axles) that help the major engine, whereas the HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 has one electric motor (110 hp) integrated into the transmission. Such vehicles can travel 56-59 km without starting the internal combustion engine due to a 13.2 kW/h lithium-ion battery. There is also an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Equipment
As for the new options added by the manufacturer after the restyling, the 2021/2022 Peugeot 3008 has the Night Vision system, which is not offered in the compact SUV segment, but the 3008 is an exception. The entry-level version has six airbags, LED headlights, electric parking brake, hill start assist, light and rain sensors, alloy wheels (17 inches), digital dashboard, dual-zone climate control, heated windshield, rear parking sensors, heated front seats, media system with an 8-inch display, electric and heated mirrors, tire pressure monitoring, auto-dimming interior mirror, multifunction steering wheel with leather rim lining.
The most expensive version, the Peugeot 3008 GT, is complemented by a preventive safety package, which includes automatic braking, lane keeping assist, driver monitoring system, automatic high beam control, blind spot monitoring system, and adaptive cruise control.
