The 2020 first generation Cupra Leon Hatchback
The Cupra Leon is a C-class passenger car produced since 2020 by Cupra, a sub-brand of SEAT (Spain), which is part of the VAG Group (Germany). The new Cupra Leon is the real family of ‘hot’ vehicles, comprising 5-door hatchbacks and Sportstourer estates, gasoline versions, rechargeable hybrids and electric cars, front- and all-wheel drive models. In 2021, the first generation Cupra Leon is available on the market.
Distinctive features of the 2020 hatchback
The 2020/2021 Cupra Leon 5-Door 5-Seater Hatchback is 4,398 mm long, 1,799 mm wide, 1,442 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,683 mm. The volume of its trunk is 270 liters. The model was based on the new SEAT Leon, but in contrast to it, in order to lower the center of gravity, the front bodywork of the new Cupra has become closer to the ground by 25 mm and the stern - by 20 mm.
In addition to powerful engines, the Cupra Leon Hatchback differs from the standard SEAT models by a stiffer suspension, larger brakes and a re-tuned steering system. The front and rear ground clearance has been lowered by 25mm and by 20mm, respectively. The vehicle has enhanced Brembo brakes and sharper steering.
The new Cupra Leon Hatchback is equipped with a developed aerodynamic body kit, a rear spoiler, an original radiator grille, and larger wheels (R18 or R19 depending on the selected trim level), the bronze paint of the tailpipes, and of course, the signature Cupra logo. The body can be painted with original matte enamels in gray and blue shades.
The passenger compartment of the new sports hatchback now has seats with reinforced lateral supports, a steering wheel with a beveled bottom, bronze accents on the deflectors and steering wheel. The electronic dashboard boasts improved graphics.
Modifications
The 2020/2021 Cupra Leon Hatchback has several modifications: gasoline and plug-in hybrid.
- Gasoline 2.0 TSI: a 2-liter turbo engine with 310 hp, a signature 7-speed DSG semi-automatic transmission with two clutches. Front-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 5.7 seconds, while the maximum speed is 250 km/h.
- Plug-in hybrid: a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, an electric motor and a 12.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The unit can can produce a maximum of 245 hp or 204 hp. The hatchback can travel up to 55-60 km in an electronic driving mode. The battery can be charged from an external network. Front-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 6.7 or 7.5 seconds, depending on the modification. The maximum speed can be 220 or 225 km/h.
