The BMW M4 CSL extreme coupe is available in Israel
The BMW M4 CSL is a sports lightweight coupe based on the M4 model, released in 2022 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the M division. The difference between the ‘ordinary’ M4 and the new model is already encrypted in the name: the letters CSL mean ‘Coupe Sport Leichtbau’, the extreme coupe is lighter and more powerful. The M4 CSL is so far the fastest BMW production car at the Nürburgring: during tests, the factory driver drove a 20.8 km lap in 7 minutes and 20.832 seconds. In addition to being extreme, the coupe is also exclusive with only 1,000 units. And now you can buy it in Israel! Only 2 units of the unique model were brought by Delek Motors, a BMW importer in Israel.
In Germany, the price of the M4 CSL starts at 165,000 euros, while the original BMW M4 Competition costs from 94,000 euros. In Israel, the new BMW M4 costs 784,815 shekels (as of 2022). The price of the extreme version of the BMW M4 CSL is 1,150,000 shekels (as of 2023).
Features
The BMW M4 CSL, with a weight of 1,625 kg, has turned out to be about 100 kg lighter than the BMW M4 Competition due to the use of carbon fiber, simplified sound insulation, a titanium exhaust tract, a lightweight chassis and minor cosmetic changes in appearance. The ground clearance of the M4 CSL, compared to the M4 Competition version, is reduced by 8 mm (up to 113 mm). Moreover, the coupe comes with a recalibrated suspension and a ceramic brake system.
The rear bench seat has been removed along with seat belts (now there is a niche for racing helmets), the front seats have been replaced with sports carbon-fiber seats without backrest angle adjustment (height adjustment is possible only with the help of a tool). But the manufacturer has kept electronic assistants, such as automatic braking and lane keeping systems.
The power of the 3.0-liter biturbo 6-cylinder in-line engine has been increased from 510 to 550 hp, although the torque has not changed (650 Nm). All power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M automatic gearbox and an electronically controlled M limited slip differential. As a result of all the improvements, acceleration to 100 km/h was reduced to 3.7 seconds. The speed limiter has been removed, so the top speed of the new extreme coupe is 307 km/h (the BMW M4’s top speed is limited to 250 km/h, which increases to 290 km/h with the optional M Driver’s package).
